That’s pretty cute too.
Adorable isn't it?

It's about use case. My truck can also tow broken jeeps back from the trail head:

Poked a stick in the trans pan gasket
But it meant someone had to drive my jeep back lol. The poor guy is never gonna drive a TJ again
Total weight with that trailer and a jeep is around 7-8k, it can do I-75 with ease.
I'm also able to tow north of 12k lbs. Easy to have one truck that can do everything I ask of it.
It hauls my Jeep wherever I want to go. When I bought it, it was advertised as having a 7K towing capacity. That's not much compared to the full sized trucks but it works for me.

How heavy is your trailer? With my 5K jeep & my trailer @ 1400 lbs my &k trailer is close to maxed out... My little gas Ram 1500 didn't have enough nuts to tow it up the pass so I went back to a diesel. Probably could of gotten a Hemi but I like my diesel trucks.

I went and test drove one and honestly liked it a LOT but I was really worried about it moving my fat Jeep... If it was closer to 4K lbs I might of thought about it. But I also know that it's that ONE TIME you need to stop or maneuver around something that gets you even if it's OK 90% of the time . I'd of gotten a WD hitch for sure if I 'd gone that route.
I wish they'd offer a 3/4 ton Jeep pickup.

They do, under a different badge. The Power Wagon.
As far as towing goes, I don't know how well it's going to do, but I know just normal driving the 8 speed makes a MASSIVE difference in acceleration over the old 5 speed in the JK we have both with the 3.6l

They also now come with a Cummins lol

Not a Jeep.... But yes I'd debated about either a PW or Ram... I'm spoiled with the Mega cab and really like them.
Wife and I are talking some big future plans in the next couple years which has me eyeing 1-ton trucks and 40' trailers though![]()
They should just offer axle upgrades for the Cummins equipt trucks.
Or build that AI concept Gladiator that is posted some where in this thread way back... It does have a much better off road look than the Power Wagon.
I do a 1700lb, 18' tilt deck with my TJ behind a 1/2 ton Ram with 5.7 and 8-speed. I can pull it as fast, or should I say as fast as I can afford, as I'd like up the mountain passes. Fuel mileage tanks, but it can handle it no problem.

Suggestion. Look at a light commercial duty truck. Co-worker had a ginormous fiver and switched from a 1 ton Dodge/Cummins to a late model, low mileage, used commercial and was a LOT happier. It actually cost slightly less than the 1 ton did, didn't have all the wussy tech on the thing, and handled the trailer a lot better. Of course, that was then, this is now. You'd also need to look at licensing and insurance in your state which may or may not turn into a problem. This guy already had a CDL.

As of last year the used truck market prices were ridiculous. You were better off buying new.
I'm guessing the trailer is around 3k. I borrow it from work, I think it's a big tex 14TL?
Looked it up, the trailer is 3440 lbs. So comes in probably around 7.5k with my jeep loaded, and chains etc.
How much did your truck cost new?
Oh, and I didn't need 12k towing capacity unless I'm visiting @lBasket 's mom...
