I have a 2000 wrangler with a 99dakota swap and someone stole my pcm. How can I find out which pcm I need to get the right one. Also when I get used pcm do I give my tj vin to be programmed to the Dakota pcm thanks in advance

Since it has a Dakota engine and presumably transmission I suspect you need a Dakota PCM. WranglerFix might know the answer but I bet a Wrangler PCM is not what you need. But, I don’t know for certain as I don’t know much about the Dakotas.

Top of the morning to you from soggy South Florida. We do not have a bunch of DBA’s. I cut my teeth with Diesel ecms when I first started and ur never left me.

I think the 99 Dakota Ecm is what you need what size engine?

PS

If you have ever owned a Dodge Chrysler Jeep ram and not changed the computer, you have not owned it long enough.

Thanks,

Mark

So true. I’ve had a few Dodge work vehicles and at least one of them got a new PCM under warranty.

What makes Dodge PCMs fail at such a higher rate than other companies?

The wiring looms are always an issue on all DCJR vehicles. A bad battery and a loose ground can blow a computer halfway to Tupelo, Mississippi!

To protect yourself and your rig go back to the basics-

Clean all grounds, clean and polish your battery terminals (like your Sunday school shoes) and check the loom for cracks and failures.

These TJ’s are now another year older and a little TLC will assure they make it a lot longer!

Thanks,

Mark
