Hello and thanks for having, hosting, managing, participating in this forum. It is of great value.

I just sold my 88 yj and bought an 02 tj. It has stock oem black painted wheels. I'm going to add a little shiny in the form of wheels. The question is should I keep the oem's? If they are a dime a dozen, I'll let them go. A guy wants to trade me wheels and tires but I don't want to find out later that they are irreplaceable.

Thanks for any input!!

If this was covered elsewhere, my apologies. I did look.

If you have the room for them and they are in good shape, I'd keep them. They are getting harder and harder to find, especially in good shape and often you can't get the center caps even if you find the wheels.

Personally, I'd just keep them to begin with, but if you do go aftermarket, I would try to hold onto them. I don't think they are a dime a dozen. They will only rake in 100 or so per wheel in a sale, but it's finding them later in good shape that is the hard part.

My original canyon rims had no road rash but the finish was pretty corroded after 20 years. I ended up selling them all for $75 including the original front and rear bumpers/hooks and felt lucky to get that. It was definitely better than keeping them around taking up space.

In great shape, they were worth $100 BEFORE they were painted. I sold my stock Moab wheels and MTR/K tires for $350 (5).

I have stock wheels on my 98 Sport. I just picked up a set of 5 Moab wheels from a 04-06 Rubicon. I like the look of the Moab wheels and they are 16". Upgrade the brakes to big brake disks from Black Magic. Once I get them powder coated and a set of new sneakers, I will toss the old ones. Might get them powder coated and use them later.

Stock steelies?
I think you're going to have a hard time selling them. They weren't worth a dime a dozen even before they were painted.
"Curb alert' on them MP. Maybe someone will take them to use as jack stands or on a project jeep they just need some wheels for while they work on it.
I know I sound sarcastic, but I am being candid.. You can't give them away around here. I had a similar set on one of my JKs... The were brand new with new rubber. I sold five of them for $100 just for the rubber... everyone they inquired asked if I would sell just the tires.. they didn't want to deal with the wheels.

Thanks for all the replies, except for that jack stand comment. Just kidding. I bought a used set of 31 10.5 15s on chrome. I like the look. Will test for a bit. Then decide whether to get rid of the little ones. And what to do with all the cash if I sell! Thanks again
