Man it's hot here today!

(cursing)

It's been in the high 80's/ low 90's for weeks and humid. We don't have A/C and insulation is lousy. It gets up into the high 80's in the house during the afternoon and barely cools down till around midnight.

Sweating and sticky has been the norm.

How do you sleep at night? Seriously... I could probably deal with it during the day, but if I had to be sweating profusely at night, I would go crazy. I keep the house at 68 degrees at night which provides for a perfect sleeping temperature. I then let it get up to 74 inside during the day, which is also comfortable as well, but not so low that it creates for a huge power bill.

I don't, lol. It's tossing and turning all night long. Having a fan on me while I sleep agitates my sinuses and makes my throat burn so I can only use the ceiling fan on low.

Oh man... So the million dollar question is, why not invest in an air conditioner? At least for your room so you can sleep better.

I was gifted one a couple months ago but unfortunately it was a small one (125 sq ft). It works ok so we keep it in the living room so we can watch tv on the plasma (the tv is a heater!). The living room does not have a ceiling fan.

I would buy more for each room but I'm saving for a heat/AC system. Had a couple estimates so far but way too high. Like $16k for a heat pump(we need heat too).

We just bought this house last October. We decided to go a full year before making any improvements or adding stuff so we can see how the house does in all seasons and what it needs. We found that baseboard heat doesn't work that well, we need A/C, and basement needs better insulation. It goes down to 38 degrees down there in the winter. COLD!

Damn, that's spendy! We had central AC installed in the house before we moved in. Fortunately since it already had central heat, installing the AC wasn't as bad. The good thing is that I know an HVAC guy, so he did it under the table for me and gave me cost on everything. I only ended up paying $2600 for a massive 3 ton central AC unit, installed and everything.

Okay, I knew that looked familiar. Now I know why!
Few people see it from the harbor side. Spending 2 nights at the Depot Bay Inn. Adults only, no smoking of anything, fantastic place with sherry on the table, chocolates sticks with the sherry, huge selection tigon of videos, nice library, wonderful common area and deck over looking the harbor. Full custom cooked breakfast was a treat. Out room has a king bed, real wood burning fireplace and harbor view balcony. Oh and supplied binoculars. Taffy our host is super and Hanna the house dog is a special treat.

In other words, retirement is great... right?

Maybe one day...

Sounds like you're having a fun time. We plan on heading out to the coast this weekend to beat this insane heat that will be paying us a visit in the Willamette Valley.

You had better hurry. There is an extreme heat advisory for the coast starting Friday. Seriously- 90+ in Depoe Bay by Friday. We are headed home tomorrow!

It's supposed to cool down a bit Friday in Lincoln City (according to my weather). I think it said 76 or something. Which is still better than 102!

Yup, my weather app (Weather Underground) just dropped Depoe Bay to 85 for Sat. We have to go home tomorrow and do serious final fixin, and packing for Moab for 6 weeks. Guess I'll find out if Stinger will work or if it can swin the Colorado River!

We had to (sadly) come home yesterday. When we went thru a little town up in the Cascades called Idanah it was 102 degrees. Now that is freaking obscene!

@Chris remember me telling you that my gym doesn't have AC, it's just a warehouse? Feels like temp earlier this week was 107*. :(

Enjoy the coast!
