Regear the axles to 4.88 for your 33s and you won't work the transmission as hard.

Now that's a thought! Is there a downside to this...less top-end I assume?

You don’t need a temp gauge and sensor on a manual transmission. If you remove the console and look at the lower shift boot it may be torn. That’s the number one way excess heat enters from that area. Replace the boot and add any additional heat blocking insulation and it will lower the in cab temps.

There are some great threads on here for sound deadening and heat barrier. External on the transmission “tunnel” is always best if you can swing it. When you look under the rig, you’ll see some heat barrier insulation in various places. That’s really good stuff. Don’t lose that. Something like that is really good. Check Summit. Wish I could be more specific.

Okay got it but when you say "external" on the transmission...what do you mean by that exactly? I know it means outside the transmission but does it mean on the transmission rather than the body?

Thank you. Do you know where I can get the heat barrier material?

I used a product like SmartSHIELD -5mm 48''X 10ft R17 under my carpet. Before adding it the mass backing of my carpet would melt and stick to the floor pan and the tunnel.

If you are going to have the transmission removed you can look into applying something like this to the underside of the tub: Design Engineering Floor & Tunnel Shield II

Having said that the transmission tunnel gets hot to the touch even when everything is up to par. Additionally you can check/change the fluid

I checked this today and it looked pretty destroyed lol
