ECU Help

Hello there, I bought 2000 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 gasoline automatic, which wont start. Ex owner told me that ECU died, which he gave to unknown service for repair, they told that ECU completely died and he decided to put it tot the trash. Now I have no idea how to know the ECU serial number, that I should buy. Is there possible to know what exactly I need by the VIN number? VIN - 1J4FAA9S2YP787869
