Cracked seat frame

I started to restore my seats and I took the whole thing apart to refresh the foam, get rid of the creaks, deal with the rust and clean the upholstery.

Then after taking both my seats out I found the back support frame was cracked in 2 places on both my seats.

I took out 2 seats from another TJ and found the exact same cracks as well. I’m now going to check another 2 TJs I have access to for the same but thus far it’s 4/4.

Below is the crack and their location on a wider photo.

One of the 4 seats was starting to crack on the back side as well so it would soon separate.

I haven’t seen anything on this possible issue so I decided to post. Anyone willing to check?

These are 04 and 05 seats btw.

I'd just weld the cracks and continue as planned. A small gusset would keep the frame from flexing at those points as well.

Like the others said, just get the welder out and keep going. I have welded other seats and they worked just fine.

Weld it and you'll be fine. I had the same issue and the welds are holding up well.
