Like many guys I'm sure, the TJ seats in my soon to be sons TJ are dated, bad, and toast.
The seat covers I installed a year ago are just an aesthetic bandaid, and I want newer everything in there for him.
I'm not interested in restoring them, or aftermarket seats.

I prefer OEM, because there's a market LOADED with them, and I'm just not a fan of aftermarket seats myself.
Been down that road Corbeau, etc with other cars. OEM = market saturation, inexpensive, and good DD comfort

So Ive done a few searches and only came up with two threads for 2007-2018 JK seats in TJs. (Posted at bottom)
Only one shows a member here, and there's a single video on YT showing EARLY 2007-2018 seats in a 1998-2006
I'm fully cognizant of the required fabrication of brackets , not an issue. Done it before. (2002 SS seats in 78 Z/28)

My questions are
> Are either newer vs older 2007-2018 seats better (more comfort, better support, etc) ??
> Are they the same dimensions (Width esp) ?
> How do they perform with the forward flip to get in rear? (assuming yes I keep forward flipper bases)
> Rear seat to match, anyone done this yet ??

I'm asking only because I think I'll find better condition NEWER seats VS older seats.
I'm also leaning towards cloth for better long-term durability (opinions welcome)
I have found a mint pleather set, but I'm just not keen on their longterm durability

The 2 threads that come up in a search are very limited in info, as is the video.
The video doesn't show the fold forward so I'm left wondering how it performs with rear seat entry.

Thread 1'

Thread 2

EDIT
I Found the later JK seats thread

Pics of my swap are in the first link.

The mods to install them weren't that bad; no welding required, I just had a drill a few holes to make the frame of the seats fit onto the TJ bases.
I was not able to retain the fold option on the passenger side, and our driver was a standard frame (no tilt).

The seats are a bit wider and they will sit a bit taller than the stock TJ seats.
I stuck with the factory rear seat with matching neoprene cover.

The seats have held up fine, but the neoprene covers that I installed are starting to wear.
(We don't take proper care of them though.)

I used 4 door seats, and unless you get 2door seats, the passenger seat will not fold forward much and access to the rear will be reduced.

lots here are recommending the replacement seat foam from summit. my seats are in perfect shape with bartact covers so i can’t give any real input on the replacement foam. just passing info from reading this fine forum of knowledge.
