    Moving from Midwest to AZ

Lucky you!! We moved from Show Low AZ to The Gila wilderness about 5 months ago. Its killing me too. Literally millions of open acres of national forest, dozens of lakes, hunting, dryer climate, some nice 4x4 trails...you name it. Have fun!!!

    4 banger/auto: should I?

Why one might ask why . Its the only unmolested clean/stock TJ close to me. 120K miles, nice and clean with no rust. In all honestly because of where we live now 99% of its use will be putting some stunning country roads topless with a frequent putt to town to grab some goodies. I think...

Other vehicles that work as part sources for a TJ?

Couldn't resist the pic or FiFi. Seriously though, if you look up a particular part you need on Rockauto the listing shows what other dodge/chry vehicles share the same part. I will add once working at a Porsche/VW parts supplier some parts like the pilot bearing could be found in both the VW...

Looming for some answers, new to Jeeps

Its fairly an easy job to swap out the coils if your so motivated.

It looks as if they may have only swapped out the coils for longer ones, 3" lift per the "TJ3R" on the rear coils. I see OEM control arms and bump stops and no T case drop kit installed. Which means the lift is not much. That being said You should be able to just get a set of stock coil springs...

3 dead fuel pumps in a matter of weeks

FYI, the caravan, durango and a few other Chrysler products do have an issue with the F/P not shutting down after its turned off and burning up the pump. There are a few fixes for this...

    Caltrend DuraPlus vs. Sportstex?

I followed the link and that pic of the black covers on the TJ look great, way better than my covers. Id say that version is the way to go.

    Frame work?

Look how square cornered the frame is in the pic. It looks like a complete section was scabbed in and the body mount welded back on with a arc welder. To much splatter for factory welds IMO. Damn shame. Im looking for a possible 97/98 TJ myself and here in KY 90% of them are wasted, $8 to $10K...

    Caltrend DuraPlus vs. Sportstex?

They have been in the truck for about 2 years, maybe a tad longer. The material is plenty thick which likely makes the seams pretty bulky which is part of the ugly/sloppy factor. BTW, I just looked on caltrends site and I have the Duraplus covers. I wonder if anyone makes a new OEM type cover...

    Caltrend DuraPlus vs. Sportstex?

I have CalTrands in my 99 F250. The good. Thick durable material like in your left pic. The bad. I think they fit like poorly. Baggy/sloppy fit and the bottoms are constantly sliding to the front of the seat regardless of how snug the bottom straps are. I would not buy them again.

    Spare Tire Mount Question

leverage on the weak gate is not its friend.

Looming for some answers, new to Jeeps

You could most likely use the OEM wheels with the spacers. Ive run 31's on stock wheels however there are different width wheels from jeep. narrow as 6", up to 8". Far as the lift goes, yes as indicated, it could be as simple as swapping springs, shocks, sway bar links and maybe bump stop or...

Frame rot: how far gone is it?

IMO is that OK is like asking a person laying on their death bed, but still smiling if their OK. RIP brother Craig. 🥲

    What’s wrong with this picture?

No sir.. Granted its a YJ but after moving to the rust belt recently I was laughing at this frame "fix". About 30% of the TJ's for sale here are literally junk from rust .Sheesh...I thought chit on the coast/Pismo bch where I used to live got bad. o_O

1998 Jeep TJ Upgrades / Modifications

Learn it limits in stock form if its stock. Best money invested IMO is a winch plate for $60 or so and a winch for $350 to $1200 depending on what brand. I cant say what its like trail wise around Raleigh, but if its anything like were we moved to in KY its all pay to play parks and from what...
