Frame work?

Bought this Jeep 2 years ago for way too much money… as the paint is coming off more rust is starting to show. Only have put 5,000k miles on it, took it to get evaluated by professional and they mentioned the frame looked welded. Any idea what was done and why it would have been? Thanks in advance, any advice is appreciated.

Frame was welded because of rust damage. My guess is that the frame rotted and someone welded caps as reinforcement over the existing frame. Second and pic appears to show rotten body mount.

You bought a rusty northern jeep. Consider selling it and buying a local tj that isn't rotten

I agree with @Rickyd. My TX Jeep was in great condition when I bought it.

Look how square cornered the frame is in the pic. It looks like a complete section was scabbed in and the body mount welded back on with a arc welder. To much splatter for factory welds IMO. Damn shame. Im looking for a possible 97/98 TJ myself and here in KY 90% of them are wasted, $8 to $10K. Good luck with that one I say. Look in AZ, NM, or maybe TX and have a jeep shipped if your gonna replace that one.
