Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

I don't remember seeing you say, why are you wanting to go up to the 14-bolt over the CRD60? Have you had strength issues out of it or just looking to go a bit stronger and full float? Planning 40s in the future?

My CRD60 has not been very stout since I've had it. I blew up the first R&P when I was wedged between those trees and bounced it... Like 5 times...
And that was on 35" tires...
Then I had it regeared by a member of my club who's family business was doing rear ends. I'd swapped to the 38" TSL's and some where I'd blown up the R&P again.
Then had a shop in Spokane do my gears again and I'd guess only had 2K miles max on them & that was when I'd parked it. When I started working on it again I opened the axle up just to clean stuff and found out I'd chipped the pinon teeth...

So 3 R&P's so far. So I installed a Super60 R&P which is a 10" ring gear and supposed to allow better tooth contact plus I installed a Jantz Load Bolt.

The reason for wanting the 14Bolt is two reasons.
1) Added width
2) Full floating axle
And added feature would be that I'm running on the drive side instead of coast side of the ring gear which adds to it's strength but it's also a negative because it is a Low Pinon axle which would make my driveshaft angle steeper. The good thing about this is that due to the stretch I'm running a longer rear driveshaft.

I won't say 40's are out of the question since in 2006 I'd said 35's were as large as I would ever run & BOOM 2 years later I was doing 38's.... So would I rule out 40's? Nope...

I could join Jeff in the 40's & Tons group...

I didn't realize you had so much trouble out of the R&P, that's wild.

Yes it's been an honest nightmare and I have no faith in it now either. Even with the Super60 R&P & load bolt... So doing the 14B will just get rid of that possibility. AS I said it's most likely not going to happen until 2027 but if I come up with the funds prior to then great.

I'm still researching parts and things too at this point. I'd really like to keep my 5 on 5.5 BP since I've got another set of rims in that BP.

Losing the Spyderlocks would be a shame.

Yes it would be. And the Stazworks rims are nice too other than they 16.5" wheels... So now Interco is about the only tire manufacture that makes tires to fit that size rim.

And to be totally honest here.... I'd regrated not making my front axle a Hybrid 44/60 for years... And not getting a FF rear axle so I'd say since around 2008 or 2009 I've wanted full on TONS just never could find the correct axles.
And I've said more than once here & to others that if I won the Lottery I'd have custom axles built that were 65" WMS wide... So I'm doing it without the Lotto...
Just take a while longer...

I keep saying the same thing about the lottery............

I guess for that to happen, I need to start playing the lottery....

Same here! The other day, just put of curiosity, I looked up the cost for GenRight's complete Tracer LJ chassis......starts around $80,000 😳 I can buy a lot of Power Ball tickets for $80,000! lol

Well you know, they say it helps your odds........

Whats funny is the first local people that i know who won the GA lottery back when it first started.

They won like $350,000.00 took the cash out, bought a brand new double wide to replace their old single wide. The proceeded to blow the rest of their winnings in Louisiana and Mississippi gambling on the riverboat's 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

I'll admit to making a LOT & I mean a LOT of mistakes in building my TJ be it the 1st time or now the 2nd or the 2.5th time... And I guess when I go TONS we'll call it the 3.0 time.... And I've spent more money than I care to think about.

I'd guess I'm over $60K into it and closer to $80K now than I really want to admit... But I stopped keeping track a round 2008... So it's a SWAG now.

What chaps my butt is pre and post China flu pricing.

You would think some things would be coming back down by now.

I promise just in my small build Rubicon I am close to $25,000.00.

I know compared to many that's not a lot.

But if you look at it I haven't done that much.

Can't sell it because folks would think my asking price was stupid high.

I had to look up what you might mean be SWAG 🤣 never heard that before.

I'm already WAY further into mine than I ever thought I would be. I've counted up to this point, but moving forward there won't be a count.

I know someone that won a million, took the cash out of like $720,000 or so. After a new modular home, a couple vehicles, bills that were due, and some poor money management, they're back to living about like they were before but just have some nicer things.

Now you being military I didn't figure I'd have to explain that term...

Wait a minute........ .. to many definitions of SWAG. You will have to clarify for this redneck.......see below.
