Auxbeam 6 gang wiring

Do the KC Cylones bolt through the back? I don't see mounting tabs? I'm assuming the lense pops off since they're replaceable and there are holes through the light that you hit with your aforementioned nutserts?

What's your learned opinion about KC's surface mount and frenched in recessed brackets?

I explained it above. The rubber plug in the center of the light covers the mounting hole or a screw in the hole when mounted.

No idea on their mounts, I just make what I need for where I need it.

Yes they are the Lux lights. I'm not seeing this style on their website anymore.

I can't say if 4 would be enough. Like I said I've got 10 total and like how much light it's providing.

so got to looking at lux a little bit more, found out i can purchase 6 for under $200, the idea would be to install one on front cross member, 2 on the front of the body, 2 rear of the body, and 1 on rear bumper. those are some of the locations im thinking about in terms of putting lights, idk if itll be towards the outside of the body in the rear by the rockers or inside the frame more above the driveshaft, not entirenly sure just yet

In the front there is a spot that is well overlooked by most. It is the lowest part of the tub, well protected from rock and has the perfect angle to aim a light right at the back of the tire where it meets the ground, or close to it. Probably requires the use of aftermarket fenders since I've not checked the spot with stock fenders.

i can take a peak here shortly about to install a gas tank skid plate

The nice thing with the magnetic lights is that you can move them around to find that perfect spot. And yes if you don't get their whole package kits but just the lights you can do it for under $200 in most cases.

do you recommend their whole kit? or do you think id end up being fine with running the lights to the auxbeam?

I really just think their kit is a fancy junction box that's prewired so if you can do the wiring yourself then no I don't think it's needed.

When I did mine I just have the lights directly connected to the Auxbeam. They're LED's so they don't have a large amp draw.

This is the inside of one of their boxes.

so it's easy pretty easy to install then. did you have enough wire to run from the back of the vehicle to the auxbeam? and for powering and wring howd you end up doing it? did all the wires just lead to to one switch to activate all at once or did you have to split them up?

The kit I bought the lights had wires on both ends so IMO were easier to wire in since I just connected them end to end.

This was the whole kit I bought and I didn't need the extra wire I'd bought from them either.

This 8 piece set is what I'd get now if I was doing it.

https://luxlightingsystems.com/collections/rock-lights/products/the-monster-magnetic-led-rock-light

You get 4 with 20' leads and 4 with 10' leads which I'd guess should be more than enough. You'll have to figure out where you want to junction each set of wires at. You should end up with one lead from each side going into the Auxbeam. Join all the wires together before the Aux beam IMO. Easier & cleaner install.

@Wildman I am really liking this kit. Far brighter than the chinesium light pods the PO installed on my TJ. But I am not understanding how you wired them..

Their website shows light pods that have only one wire. I am assuming each pod is wired from the Pro-Installer junction box out to the mounting spot and there it ends. Potentially a lot of wire redundancy

The light pod you pictured has wires into and out of the light unit. Are these wired in series, one daisy chained off the previous and then connected on to the next? Or are they all in parallel, with each light coming out of the Lux Lighting junction box and one power and ground from the junction box to the Auxbeam controller?

The lights I have are daisy chained end to end but they don't make this version anymore but instead offer this.

These are 2' long & then have 2' leads on them.

The ones I posted in the post above is a light similar to mine but then has either a 10' or 20' lead coming out of it so you'd have to run each lead up to a junction or junction box. So yes it's a lot of redundant wires but you could connect one light to the next I'd guess just be more work.

Do the junction like he does in the video here. Or buy their junction box.

I have some other rock lights I'd bought before that I'll probably install on my daughters TJ that have leads similar to the current Lux lights. They aren't as bright but can be bolted or use magnets to hold them on but at a LOT larger than the Lux lights and maybe put out close to the same amount of light.

I liked them for the angled lighting over some of the flat rock lights I've seen.

Now I come from a time when a rock light was an old flood light or spot light that was mounted in the fenderwell or other spot for protection because there wasn't specialty lights available at the time.

Lux still makes that style. They have 2 sizes, micro & monster. https://luxlightingsystems.com/collections/rock-lights.

They don't offer the light with the leads coming out of both ends like I have. The question of the micro or monster light isn't the issue.

Notice the leads coming out of both ends?

They still have the magnets like the micro or monster lights but those only have a lead coming out of one side.

With the lights I have you could daisy chain them end to end like Christmas lights which made for a little easier install. Don't know what the size or lumens difference might be between the lights I have and the micro or monster lights.

I didn't notice the difference in the wiring. But they are a intriguing design vs most others. 🤔

wow that looks pretty simple to wire up, worse thing about wiring em is just splicing all the ends together but even then thats pretty easy. might be going with lux. gonna figure out if im going with 6 or 8 lights

Yep, simple just a PITA getting them all spliced together,

Even that after all that’s said and done, run the hot wire to the Auxbeam and the ground to tub or negative battery. Unless it’s specified otherwise in that vid idk I gotta watch it again

The Auxbeam has a Negative and Positive terminal in the switch box. Just hook both into the Auxbeam.

Both Positive and negative go to the Auxbeam controller
