With this rear camera, acam4 voxx

So I’ve been trying to get this thing right for the last day and a half. I’ve read and watched way too much for this thing not to work. The wiring harness for the camera has 3 total red (+) trigger wires and a (-).
The one closest to the radio, I went ahead and married it to the reverse in wire and plugged the yellow into the camera input. Easy.

The other 2 (+) wires, I have tried to wire just 1 to the reverse trigger wire 12v+ directly to the backup wire (purple/black) and left the middle one capped. DIDNT WORK. I then tied both (+) wires together and spliced them into the reverse trigger wire(purple/black).

The ground wire, hooked it behind the a bolt that holds the tailgate housing to body, fastened with a nut. Blew the fuse. Replaced and put the ground to an easy access spot in a license plate bolt. In doing so, I was able to atleast get the radio to shut off when putting in reverse but still no picture and when put back in P, radio comes back on.

1) Do all 3 (+) red wires need to be tied into something for the camera to work?
2) why did a fuse blow when I mounted the (-) to the body behind the taillight bolt?
3) will a larger gauge wire spliced with a 22g blow a fuse, specifically related to radio and camera wiring?

Most of these cameras have two power trigger options 1) the purple and black reverse wire or another 12v source, some can be powered by a cig lighter switch that you turn on to enable the camera. I don’t think they support both.

If you’re getting the radio to shut off and go black when in R, that usually means the camera is actived, check your head unit camera input settings, NTSC, PAL, etc it may default to the wrong format.

Not sure if it matters but this radio has a dedicated camera input on the back and has no options to change the format.

When I remove the one red 12v(+) coming from the yellow in the 2nd picture, Nothing happens. When I reattach it, the screen goes black in R. I feel it’s almost there but still unsure what the hell is going on. Maybe it’s a faulty camera…

I can answer 2 and 3...2 because you have a direct short. 3 size of wire does matter in some cases, but not this one. Usually get in trouble using too big with too small of components.

The diagram you posted doesn't show where the reds go...but it does show where one of them goes - backup switch. The other look like they are unused.

White wire- says to cut it to see image...you did not cut it. It is still a loop in your picture.
Blue wire - cut iti f you do not want to see the guide lines

Red wires- the one closet to the radio is not the one to use for the reverse trigger. Use the furthest.

Take a break and follow the drawing in the manual.

You got this

White wire- says to cut it to see image...you did not cut it. It is still a loop in your picture.
Blue wire - cut it if you do not want to see the guide lines
I believe the white wire when cut is to reverse the actual image on the screen, I guess depending where one wants to mount the camera.

I cut it anyway just to see, Still no image….

In your pic right above the one with the manual...you have 3 red wires nutted together...that is not what is shown in the manual diagram. Only the one red wire coming from the black plastic blob where the white wire is is used.

So I ended up cutting the red wire in half that would have led to the backup trigger wire, and just butted them together with a nut. So essentially it’s 2, the red coming from the yellow and the one I cut in half.

Disconnect the one from the yellow and connect the one from the blob to reverse

Is your black grounded? The black wire adjacent to the red wire from the blob. Are you sure you have good ground?

Ya, I’ve moved it around thinking that was it but may not have a strong ground right now. Im going to mount it back to the body in the a.m., I’ll let you know how it goes

Alright. So I moved the ground to mount straight to the body. Didn’t change anything else as far as wiring goes. Blew the backup light fuse.

Yesterday I did remove the one red wire coming from the yellow and the backup camera and radio did nothing.

My thought is the backup camera is defective in some way.

If you have it wired like the picture, and I think you do, I agree the camera may be the issue.

Got some good news. Decided to get another camera (meta) from the local Best Buy, I had no more patience to wait for another Amazon package lol. Anyway, it works. It only has 2 trigger wires, one for the back of the radio and one for the reverse light. Tied both this in just like I had the old one, and it worked. Need to get the other one back to the Amazon seller. Thanks again for reading and helping me out gents.
