Hello Everyone,

I am planning to add a front camera and have a wiring question for those who have already installed one. For power, did most of you hook it up to an accessory feed? That was my first thought but that would have it running anytime the key is turned on and I only plan to use it in specific situations so was thinking to add an on/off switch in the circuit to only turn it on when needed. I know it's an extra step but frequency of usage shouldn't turn it into a PITA and I can always remove the switch in the future if it does.

Am I over thinking this??

I am also planning to add a backup camera as well but can tie the camera power feed to the reverse light circuit so it will only come on when I actually put the Jeep in reverse. Thank you Chrysler for adding the reverse circuit in the auto-dimming rear view mirror wire branch. Will make the wire connections between the backup camera and HU feed super easy.

Thank you,

Scott

I just installed a front and rear camera a week ago. I ended up just running both of them off a switched power lead from a distribution block I installed under the hood.

I did not tie into the radio's wire for activation, so neither one will come on when I go into reverse. Instead I installed a switch to the activation wire on the radio, so I can enable the cameras any time, not just when I am in reverse. The consequence is that it does not automatically turn on when I go into reverse and the cameras are powered on any time the ignition is on but I don't see either one of those as an issue for me. The radio always comes on to the rear camera, but has a toggle on the screen to switch to the front camera.

Where did you find the camera toggle switch? I tried finding one on ebay and struck out. That type of switch was my first thought since it matches the factory ones.

As my luck goes, that seller doesn't look like he has anything in stock ( I did IM to confirm if potentially still available) and can't find another seller who has the camera image.

It's all about the journey...(LOL!!)

Oh, bummer. I ordered on Jan 25th. I would just check in once in a while to see if he gets new stock.
