Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

Started draining the radiator tonight and will pull the lower radiator hose in the morning after I run into town and pickup to more 5 gallon buckets so I can flush the radiator better. Then I can pull the radiator out and get the new fan installed plus the thermostat & water pump. Then reinstall it and then pull the front tires & work on the steering.
After that it should just about be ready to take it for a few test runs and see what happens.

Well bummer, I was supposed to get my new chompers today but due do a backlog or something the lab didn't have them ready yet... So I ended up going to my Jeep club meeting instead... Got a snow run coming up on the 24th... And a lot of shit happening between now & then too.... But the added thing was......
Looks like I'm meeting up with a couple members from my club in Moab the week before our Sand Hollow trip. They're going to be in Moab from 26 April-3 May so I told them I'd be down to wheel with them from the 26th thru the 1st and then head to Sand Hollow on the 2nd. So my trip gets a little more interesting.

Remember what they say on UA, wheel for the week (or month(s) in your case) not the day! lol

Well just like HERE I catch a LOT of SHIT from my fellow club members but then they've been around for the 3 broken R&P's plus the last 5 years of me trying to get the Jeep running/wheeling.... So of course their first question was how I was going to repair it....😁

And YES I'll have to remember I'm going for the long haul here...

Speaking of, what's the deal with this

Had other things happen during the week that got in my way of working on the Jeep... Hopefully I'll get to spend the next few days getting stuff done.

Next week is a mix of appointments & then I have to go over to my sisters next weekend to work on her car. Plus I've got VA appointments on the 20th...

Should have the Jeep ready for the snow run on the 24th... 🤞🤞

Nice. Did you get more snow? I've got to shovel my shitbox out and hope what's left melts soon. Or just lay in the snow

Finally got the radiator out. Had my daughters BF help lift it out. Made my life easier.

And I didn't make too much of a mess either.

I'm going to stick the radiator in without the electric fan on it and see if I could fit the mechanical fan also.
Plus then I can check the clearance for the Camero fan.

Now the question is?
1) Run the electric fan
2) Run the mechanical fan. If I go this route I've got to find a 4.0 shroud. And make it fit my radiator.

I'm not opposed to running the mechanical fan. I've just been running a electric fan for so long now.

Lots of room.

Mechanical fan fits..

It would be one less electrical issue I'd have to worry about.

It's close but there's room for it.

Spectre makes one. Might have to move the mounting tabs to work with my radiator. Or mount it to the core....

Wizard Cooling doesn't offer a kit for a mechanical fan.

Speedway Motors offers it in Black too...

Just out of curiosity I'd measured the distance between the fan clutch and the radiator.

And a AI search gave me this:

Now to measure the fan blades and figure out what the circumference is of the fan blade I have.

And finally remembered to order an new filter for my shop vac... The old one is only about 18 years old...

You should be pretty close to spot on shouldn't you?

As far as distance from the radiator? Yes I think I'm good.
What I'm concerned about is that I think the fan blades circumference looked like they were wider than the radiator core but I've got to double check it and didn't feel like running back out to the garage right now. But I'll run out there in a little while and verify.

For now I am thinking I'll run it without a shroud... But would like to have something before the trip if at all possible. And now I've got a DAMN Camero fan I'll have to unload.
