What did you do to your TJ today?

What makes you think that's a vanity plate? Even randomness creates meaningful patterns (although, in this case, I'm not sure that's a meaningful pattern.)

The "L100K1" license plate likely has no official meaning and is most likely a personalized or vanity plate. The combination of numbers and letters is intended to resemble the word "LOOK" or "LOOKIE," depending on how the driver intended it to be read.
The most probable explanation is:
  • Vanity Plates: Many places allow drivers to pay extra for custom license plates with their choice of letters and numbers, provided they are not offensive or already in use. Using the number "1" to represent the letter "L" or "I" and the number "0" to represent "O" is common for creating "leetspeak" or vanity plates.
  • Standard-Issue Plates: In most standard license plate systems globally, combinations like "L100K1" are not used and generally have no specific meaning. They are typically assigned sequentially in a pre-determined format.
  • Plate Rules: Many states also exclude letters like "I," "O," and "Q" from standard plate series to avoid confusion with the numbers "1" and "0". This makes it more probable that "L100K1" was a custom order.
  • Vehicle Information: The numbers and letters on a standard license plate generally only serve as a unique identifier for the specific vehicle. It is not possible to decode the make, model, or driver's identity simply by looking at a standard alphanumeric plate.

Standard plates in CA are 1 number followed by 3 letters followed by 3 numbers
It should have been 8RAH974 which was my old plate and on the receipt

But those aren't standard plates, they are Section 21.025 1960s Legacy Plates:

This is my receipt from the dmv
Two points looking at that receipt:

1. The listing of your old license plate number is just that. Your old plate number. You are replacing it with the 1960s Legacy plate. Those plates use a different numbering scheme, so a new sequential number is generated.
2. It's insane that the state of CA makes you continue to pay annually if you want to keep your old plates if they were vanity plates! So, if you replace vanity plates and hang them on your garage wall, you'll have to pay an annual fee to do that. Nuts!

Pretty sure that we own the vanity plates, and they only cost if applied to a vehicle.
There were no fees associated with/ mine until I transferred them to the new vehicle.
If you replace them w/ standard plates, and want to keep them as a novelty, one could just tell the DMV that they were stolen.

No I didn’t have to drop the gas tank , i didn’t get the receiver hitch version , it was just a straight bolt on

I believe the receiver hitch requires the tank to be dropped to install the new hardware.

oh thats a relief. i don’t need another project right now :)

I got back into town early enough today to get in a bike ride and some quality time working on the "TekRak" (Copyright, patent pending, etc.) :ROFLMAO: .
More of the previous "put it in, take it out, modify, paint, and repeat", but it's getting closer to being a reality each day.

There's room enough on this setup to use it to mount a radio or just a mic clip, or gauges, or a camera, or a switch pod, or a trash bag, or maybe even a cup holder that you can use w/ two tumblers, instead of them both being wedged in there under your hip by the parking brake.

Anyway...
Got the brackets shaped and painted.
That's when I decided it would be a great idea to use rivets to secure it to the dash frame.
And I don't have the right size...
It will surely secure them better than a tech screw & a couple of zip ties!

Anyway, chargers arrived and I couldn't help but pre-assemble it even though I haven't drilled the holes for the rivets yet.
I'll handle that tomorrow and this should be in for the weekend.

A bit of wire management...

More to follow... Including matching hardware on the ends. I just used whatever mismatched 1/4-20 bolts I could find to put it together and make it work and they happened to be chrome which isn't going to work.
