Weed Smell in Public

Fitting story, leads to more problems.

"After five years of representing herself, Ippolito-Shepherd finally won her case in the DC Court of Appeals. A lower-court judge had already ruled in her favor in 2023, but Cackett, the stoner neighbor, appealed.

The higher court ended up siding with Ippolito–Sheppard, too, saying her “use and enjoyment of her own property” was more important than Cackett’s “use and enjoyment of his marijuana.’’

Cackett tried arguing that he only smoked once a day and never for longer than 5 minutes — all to cope with his many health conditions, including skin cancer, chronic hepatitis, arthritis and sciatica.

“I am not Snoop Dogg,” Cackett insisted to the court."

"The man has now been banned from smoking within 25 feet of Ippolito–Sheppard’s home — including on his own property."

"Marijuana has been legal in DC since 2015, but the case sets a new precedent there and potentially across the US for annoyed neighbors."

I was on a wildfire where a barn full off weed burned up. The whole valley smelled.

Funny part was the command center for the cops and fire bigwigs was right across the road.

Those guys were so lit by the time it was over. They were hilarious on the radio!🤣

Flashing green lights in the smoke plume ... :ROFLMAO:

Was just thinking. Spent part of my enlistment in the Navy as a cop. We couldn’t bust anyone or admit to knowing what pot smelled like till we went to a controlled burn. If we knew what it smelled like that meant we were guilty of smoking it!

Why @AndyG are you so familiar with this smell you speak of?😳🤔🫢

Man I’m from Alabama. Its a major form of agriculture here.

Plus I was a rounder back in the day- oddly never liked pot ….drank a ton.

We were like “you drive, you’re too drunk to roll ‘em”

Legal here now as well.

I smell it everywhere. On the highway, at every intersection. In the grocery store parking lot. From my neighbors.

I am no prude.. if you want to get lit, have at it. I have no memory of much of my teen years because I was toasted all the time. That said, I smell it more on the road than anywhere else. How did lawmakers think that is a good idea? The all mighty revenue dollars..

Honestly around here pot is about done.

Our dopers, are more into cooking and doing Meth.

Its close to epidemic proportions.

When I moved to Sand Mountain in 1978 it was weed and moonshine. I miss those days, no one locked their house or cars and no one bothered anyone else's property.

No crime is unreal

Meth is a real problem in rural America , people will do ANYTHING to get more . Damn shame .

Watched Avatar 3D in the theatre with a college buddy on a bunch of fungi. We were crying laughing at things like this (that we weren't supposed to be laughing at).

Edit: It's still pretty amusing.

What amazes me is smelling it while walking the dog at 6 am. Gotta wonder about someone who starts smoking at sunrise.

That's actually the major aspect of what makes marijuana such a bad drug, there are no negative health aspects so it can be used all day long without worries about overdosing. It's the main reason why I don't do it anymore. Marijuana does actually work great for healing inflammation from old sports injuries that I have, but after a few weeks of using it sparingly I would do the wake and vape thing before I even got my morning coffee. Being stoned 24/7 is not a fun time, that I can tell you.
