I just sent my first one to Amsoil-Oil analyzer. It was from my 2016 Subaru Outback with 158,000 on it. I have a problem when I push my oil change interval to 6,000 miles or so. The oil light will come on and it is down about 3 quarts. It has happened a few times in the last few years. I think fuel is getting into the oil and combusts? Today I changed it at 5,000 miles and it was right where it should be on the dipstick. I don't see or smell any indications of it burning oil.

Anyone have possible thoughts on this? or sent their oil out for analysis? what did it reveal?

thx

Losing 3 quarts is extremely significant. How many does the engine hold? 5 or 6 is typical. I thought fuel leakage made the dipstick level higher, not lower.

Who is Antone?

Hard to believe you can lose 3 quarts in 1,000 miles. You sure you had it all in there to start with?

Antone??

I know, that is what has me perplexed. I do all my own oil changes, add 5 quarts every time and check after I complete the oil change. Bought the car in 2018 with 52K on the clock, so don't know previous records. This has happened on at least 3 occasions since I have owned. I have never had to add oil with 5000 or less miles since the last oil change.
