Do snorkels cause engine flooding? JK owners want to know!

Ok so I was talking with a jeep at a gas stop about his snorkel and he was convinced that you can submerge the tj wiring connections because they all are locked and sealed (I think he was referring to the red push tabs). Is this real logic? Or is he mistaken?

My TJ has seen plenty of water in it's life time. Being from South Florida water and mud is all we got. I have never actually used a snorkel but I have had my TJ on plenty of trails where water had gone up as high as the headlights. I have never had any issue with any wiring at all to this day. Now that said I don't recommend it specially if there is a chance on getting stuck while it is in deep water.

Quick water passages are no big deal. When you are on a long deep trail that your TJ is in deep water for extended period of time then you could eventually (months or years later) experience problems like bad starter, A/C compressor clutch etc...

Electronics arent the only thing to worry about. Some transmissions like the 32rh have a low breather hole and can ingest water. Ask me how i know. I also had issues with the distributer cap getting water in it until i sealed it up.

NSG370 has no breather hose at all just a cap near the shifter column. Mine took on quite a bit of water lol.
Yea older TJ's have a distributer cap. Mine is a 2006 so no dizzy.
