First TJ 1999 Sport - Opinions

Mine was 14 years old and perfect when I bought it. Retired military original owner really knew how to take care of his vehicles and kept receipts of every service ever done. I liked it so much, I bought it again after selling it.

Well I got an update. Unfortunately I think I'll have to pass on this jeep. I really liked it. But here are pics. "surface Rust" on the tub /frame and real rust on the torque box per the seller. I'm guessing everyone's opinion is to walk away? He's asking over $10k but very open and honest. Anyone think different? As a chevy owner rust scares me. My 2500 is dissappearing lol.

If possible, consider Jeeps out of the area. I'm in MD and found my LJ in Texas. Find one with a clean frame then treat it to inhibit any rust.

I would have felt a little better if there were some drain holes in the frame. If you know enough to mod it the way it is you should know enough to drill a few drain holes. Especially in a rust belt vehicle.

Hang in there. You'll find another one.

Where are you in NJ? If you're north enough to be able to make a trip to Long Island I have a friend who buys and sells TJ of all different flavors. Might be worth a conversation with him.

Yeha I'm very open to looking elsewhere. This one just fit the upgrades I would have done. I don't care where the jeep is I'll have it shipped or drive it back.
