Piss & Moan Table

PCs.

Junk "then", junk "now". When the IBM PC came out in 1981, all the "serious" computer folk laughed at it as the toy that it was - as it combined the worst features of the TRS-80 Model 1 and the Apple ][+ with the best features of neither. To this day, PCs have non-polarized, non latching tin-plated connectors in many locations. At least they eventually figured out RAM modules should have gold contacts - only took them 20 years to get there though. I had to disassemble a cheap-ass "Hecho En China" tin plated connector in my new PC to squeeze the contacts down so the stupid thing would work - and it was brand new. Since its non-latching, I had to secure the thing as best I could with tye-wraps. I hate cheap-ass amateur hour connectors, always have - they've wasted far more time over my career than I care to remember. And don't get me started on cheap-ass screw terminals. I once pointed out to a instrument vendor that the screw terminals they were using were junk, and showed the rep what a good quality screw terminal looked like and why it was better. Much to their credit and my mild surprise, they got the point and switched over to the suggested type!

FUCK.... Yes I did it to myself... Listed the Donor Jeep on Marketplace finally to try and sell it...

Spent the last hour replying to all the "Is It Still Available" replies.... Even though it says in my ad that if the ad is up it's still available...

Dumbass People...

Another one bites the dust:

I've experienced this with 100% of the wire I've ordered on the Internet. Amazon is the worst offender, so I tried a weld-supply company (Arc-Zone) this time, and I got the same result. Why would someone, especially someone who ships welding supplies on a regular basis, think it's acceptable to throw a spool in a box, toss a 2' square sheet of crumpled-up kraft paper on top, and send it?????

Does it still run?

Can I drive it home?

Eh not really I just need to get off my ass and do a little work to mine lol

I've had that question.... with a picture of the empty engine compartment in the ad....
And it's in the ad that it doesn't have a drivetrain....

People are FUCKING STUPID.

Well after all my pissing & moaning in less than two days I sold the Donor Jeep.... Sold the hart top first... Should have held out for more but no biggy... Then after answering a TON of other replies with one or two asking how it runs...

Sold the Jeep just waiting for the guy to line up a trailer. Got close to what I wanted out of it...

People with OCD should not be allowed to have the audible lock beep on their keyless entry. This clown at the gas station locked his car 10 times in a row walking from the pump to inside the store.
My neighbor did that for around 15 years until his POS Rav4 finally disintegrated to the point he had to get a different POS. I never understood why he had an alarm on the first POS, since, ya know, it was a POS.

So I went to the DMV this morning at the ass crack of dawn that way I would be first in line. If you arrive after they open you're screwed.

They open at 8am, there was a dozen or more waiting when this moron weaves around everyone, and pulls at the door. I said did you think we are standing here because it's nice out?

Oh I didn't know. I asked him if he pushes the button for the elevator when it's already lit?

F'ing idiot.

Used to be standing outside the EM Club (Enlisted Members) in Germany in the rain waiting for it to open up for lunch and some asshat would walk up and try the door.... Used to ask them if they thought we were standing in the rain cause we wanted to grow more?

About 3 pm seems to be the optimal time for a DMV trip here. Although a coworker said that one of the locations here schedules a time slot for you and he got right in with his appointment time, haven't tried that yet.

The DMV rules in Florida are not like Maine, when buying a car in Maine you need to go to the town office pay excise tax, sale tax if car was purchased outside of Maine. Then after they are done taking all your money they hand you two license plates.

They told me this morning I didn't need to come to the DMV, the dealership will send me the license plates in the mail.

If purchased from a dealer they've always handled it for me. If purchased privately I've had to go to the DMV.

Here in Indiana dealers try to charge a DOC fee…then send you to the BMV with the paperwork.

I traded grain hoppers last week….they gave me the certificate of Origen, was heading in Monday to get the title and noticed they put 2023 as the model year vs 2025. They’re now sending a corrected one.

Guessing if I hadn’t caught it it would be forever titled as a 2023.🤦🏻‍♂️
