Roberts was arrested by Louisiana State Police Thursday morning on counts of third-degree rape and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles. The Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office jail roster shows Roberts, 42, was arrested at 10:13 a.m. and released at 11:30 a.m. on $75,000 bond.

Adam Johnson, Roberts’ attorney, released the following statement:
“It is my honor to represent Misty Roberts. My client learned late last night of a warrant, despite not being contacted to be interviewed prior to investigators obtaining the warrant. My client maintains her innocence and, as it stands, she is in fact innocent. She has not been charged with a crime and/or convicted of any crime. And we trust the public will respect her constitutional presumption of innocence which is fundamental to our system of justice. Misty and her family are very grateful for the support they have received from their friends and neighbors and we look forward to putting this unfortunate situation behind them.”
The arrest follows a tumultuous week in DeRidder. After saying she would be away from the office for two weeks and appointing a mayor pro tem on Friday, July 26, she resigned on Saturday, July 27.

What's always strange to me is the dichotomy between male and female perps in this particular crime.
The men are always completely disgusting looking, clearly someone who probably has problems attracting females of any age, and are complete weirdos.
The women are more often than not at least attractive enough that they shouldn't have any issues attracting males of their own age, and usually have blended in well enough with society to have attained some level of professional success, whether it be a teacher, or in this case, a mayor.
I suppose there are probably just as many men who fit in the second category along with the women, but they never get caught, or they never get outed/prosecuted.
Even ugly girls don't need to try very hard if at all to find someone legal.

General Motors has been sued by the state of Texas, which accused the automaker of installing technology on more than 14 million vehicles to collect data about drivers, which it then sold to insurers and other companies without drivers' consent.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said Tuesday's lawsuit arose from a probe announced in June into whether several automakers collected and sold mass amounts of data without drivers' knowledge.
Paxton said GM's data were used to compile "Driving Scores" assessing whether more than 1.8 million Texas drivers had "bad" habits such as speeding, braking too fast, steering too sharply into turns, not using seatbelts and driving late at night.
Insurers could then use the data when deciding whether to raise premiums, cancel policies or deny coverage, Paxton said.
The technology was allegedly installed on most GM vehicles starting with the 2015 model year.
Paxton said GM's practice was for dealers to subject unwitting consumers who had just completed the stressful buying and leasing process into believing that enrolling in its OnStar diagnostic products, which collected the data, was mandatory.
"Companies are using invasive technology to violate the rights of our citizens in unthinkable ways," Paxton said in a statement. "Our investigation revealed that General Motors has engaged in egregious business practices that violated Texans' privacy and broke the law. We will hold them accountable."
GM said in a emailed statement: "We've been in discussions with the Attorney General's office and are reviewing the complaint. We share the desire to protect consumers' privacy."

It seeks the destruction of improperly collected data, compensation for drivers, civil fines and other remedies for violations of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act

A student has successfully developed a small nuclear fusion reactor as part of his A-Levels. The 17-year-old built the reactor to generate neutrons as part of his Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
Notably, Cesare Mencarini’s work is claimed to be the only nuclear reactor built in a school environment.
Showcased at the Cambridge Science Festival recently, the nuclear reactor achieved plasma a few months ago. It also gave Mencarini an A* in his A-Level results, according to reports.
It wasn’t easy for Mencarini to convince his teachers for the project. The faculty members even though that the project could be dangerous and pose a significant threat.
College was initially concerned with this project
“The college was initially concerned that this project, which I have also used for my EPQ, was dangerous. However, we did full risk assessments, and the staff have been so supportive,” said Mencarini.
Finally, after spending 18 months of hard work on the project, Mencarini successfully developed the small reactor.
The teen aims to apply for a degree in engineering. However, before that, he has an ambition to work at University of Bristol’s Interface and Analysis Centre.

“Mencarini has been outstanding in his work ethic and will no doubt make a significant impact on the energy industry in the future.”
Mencarini, who hails from Italy, studied maths, chemistry, and physics at Cardiff Sixth Form College. He demonstrated the reactor’s potential alongside Imperial College, Bristol, and Bangor universities.
