Hi all,

New to the club here and have experienced some interesting whining/grinding noises on my 2000 Sport 4.0 manual. These noises occur accelerating into a turn from a stop after the vehicle is warm, particularly after traveling at highway speed. I'd like to know your experiences/theories on what's going on here, and what I can do to remedy the situation. Thanks!

Here's a video:

Here's some info that may be relevant:

-Current mileage is 106,640 miles.
-7/5/23 Rear axle oil and limited slip additive was replaced @ 102,645 miles.
-10/26/23 Front Axle oil replaced @ 102,676 miles
-10/6/23 Transfer case lubricant changed @ 103,123
-10/26/23 Rear axle bearings and seals replaced @ 103,230 miles.

Grease and check all of your U-joints. Check all of your suspension bushings / ends and see if there's play, tears, or wear beyond limits. The rattling might be your throw out bearing if that noise is happening while you're bringing the clutch pedal back up.

If nothing is rearing its ugly head, you could eliminate driveshafts by removing each one and driving to see if any noises disappear. This will also put very different loads on the vehicle which may cause changes in noise. Are there any changes in 4WD?
