Hey guys, new here. Had an XJ back in the day life got busy and it got parked then sold. A TJ came up for sale down the road and I couldn't help myself.

It's lifted probably about 4" and has 33x13.50 mud grappers on it, which I hate. Drives poorly and stupid loud.

I really want to go to 33x10.50 KM3, and I found a set for sale on wheels.... the problem is the bolt pattern is different. I would need to run adapters which would push the wheels 1.25" further out. The wheels are 4" backspace so would effectively become 2.75"

Would this look stupid? Anyone have a similar setup to look at ?

Just mount them on your wheels?

I'd be careful to check for any signs of cupping on used MTs, even if they are barely used.

I found some wheels with 3.75” backspace. That should work decent right?

The wheels with the 33x13.50’s are 4” but I plan on selling those mounted.

Update: finally got a chance to drive it with the new wheels/tires.

Rides better, noise is way better. It “feels” much better, those 13.50s just wanted to grab every bit of any uneven road surface and well, give you the drive experience of a short wheelbase vehicle with solid axles at both ends.

I wonder if I would miss those wide tires on the dunes ? I haven’t been in a long time and don’t know when I’ll go again so they are probably for sale.

I’d think a 33x10.50 would be enough foot to float a TJ at like 10 psi?

There has been some discussion and/or experimentation here on the forum, and most concluded there was no noticeable difference in the relationship between tire patch size and grip of a 10.5” vs 12.5” wide tire at the same psi, so perhaps the same is true with sand flotation of tires.
