Need Emotional Support

Don't fall victim to the fallacy of sunk cost. If it's not what you wanted just sell it, taking a loss if necessary. On the other hand if you like the Jeep that is awesome.

You had a really bad case of Jeep Fever in the LJR strain. It’s been known to cause temporary blindness and hallucinations. I’ve had similar strains with vehicle purchases where I ignored the obvious rules like VIN reports or thorough inspections. You can either cut your losses now by selling it in Connecticut where it’s in the level playing field with other northern Jeeps with various rust issues, or start going after the issues. It sounds like you really wanted rust-free. I would cut my losses now and sell it during the Spring when other locals will get the fever. Rust is a looming specter that will haunt you once it starts. I’m sure you already know that living in the northeast.

I can emphasize, bought my current Jeep during peak Covid. Got a great set of pics from it on a lift, it was 2.5hrs away but luckily we had a family friend in the same town who was also “a car guy” who was able to see it first and test drive.

Does this mean you can start posting about your magnum swap tj?

Need some jk axles

This judgement is not awarded until I have a check in hand. They could file bankruptcy as well. Not sure of their financial position.

So today I spent the morning underneath the Jeep. Found frame rot a few inches from the where the rear control arms attach. I'm totally bummed out now. Luckily I hear there is a guy here in Connecticut that does a good job on frames. Guy in Wallingford. I'm going to bite the bullet and just pay to have the frame redone. I have 15K invested, might as well put in a few more thousand and drive it.

Yeah, I debating what to do. I would actually feel bad selling it to another person without letting them know the frame has issues. I may spend the $ to fix the frame.

I am not a lawyer, but I have friends who are, and if you do too, might be worth one of them getting involved. You’ve got some responsibility for not doing a proper inspection, but there’s a difference between a leaking windshield and rotted frame sections.

I'm keeping it. Made an appointment to have the Safe T Caps welded where needed. Got an estimate today. Guy said it isn't too bad and only needs two pieces from the skid plate back to rear Control arm mounts. Estimate of $1200.00

The owner of the dealership in Florida called me and offered to refund $800 back to me, so not a total asshole.

Other than that, I managed to save the windshield frame the best I could. Grinded all the rust and primed it up. Sealed the one spot at the bottom of the windshield where I think it was leaking and it seems to be solid enough for now. I'll replace it eventually.

Now I'm researching lifts. LOL

Have him put drain holes near the front and rear lower control arm mounts. Eastwood i internal frame paint and then fluid film would be good next steps.

WRONG .................. Still a total asshole !!
Obviously & intentionally lied, misled & took advantage of the guy who didn't check it out in person or if too far away, didn't have someone else check it for him. You trusted a "DEALERSHIP" & they F'd ya good !!! Sorry this happened to you, ( better then nothing ) but $800 wouldn't lesson my pain at all ! If I were you I would also be posting how they mislead you to the better business bureau & all over every site / everywhere in every language  possible to warn & possibly save / protect others from what happened to you. You may regret not pushing harder for them to take it back, I hope not, and that this ends well for you. Fingers crossed ..................
