My apologies ahead of time. I have searched for a how to in the forum that I could understand but was unsuccessful.

I am looking for advice on wiring a light bar that came on a bumper I bought. I have the complete harness with the relay, 40 amp fuse and rocker switch. I am seeking advice on where to hookup the + and -? Do I hookup straight to the battery or is there a place on one of the fuse blocks to tie the power into?

Thanks in advance.

Can you post a pic of the harness

Most harnesses require direct battery power (that lead has an inline fuse typically ) and switchable power to trigger the relay that sends the battery power to the light.

Quick question for you guys. So I hooked up the harness and the power to the light is constant. Even before I poking in the switch the light is on. W
Once I plug in the switch the switch lights up whether it is off or on.

Any ideas why?

This harness has an inline fuse and inline relay.

Just wire them to your locker switch and all will be well.

The harness I have is wired to the positive and negative battery terminals. Here is pictures of the relay. When the relay is plugged in the lights are on 100% of the time no matter if the switch is plugged in or if it is on or off.

Understand that the relay is just a high amp switch that is controlled by the low amp dash switch.

Thanks for the help. I figured out it was the switch. I was trying to use an OE style rather than the switch that came with the harness. Not sure if it is operator error in working the OE switch to the harness or a bad OE harness. The switch that came with the harness works great.

Hopefully the last time I bother you guys on this subject.

Any idea of a grommet mid way in the firewall I can use to run the wires for the switch to the rocker panel?
