I changed my wheel seals in my front Dana 30 this weekend and both sides are already leaking worse than what they were. Any ideas? I used a seal press tool to set the seals back flush. Should I have kept going till it stopped?

X2. what brand seals did you use and what part #.What is the gear lube level inside the differential ?
There may be fluid trapped inside the axle tube during the seal replacements....
Diff was full. I just had a small leak before i replaced the seals. How full was the diff when you pulled the shafts out?

I used Mopar seals part number 5014852AB. I just bought national seals now to go back in. Didn't want to wait on the shipping of mopar seals again.X2. what brand seals did you use and what part #.
Since you cleaned the axle tubes and the gear lube is at the appropriate level; did you check the axle surface where the seal meets the axle surface ?I cleaned the axle tubes when I changed the seals.
His issue is on the front, Jerry. I think you are referring to the rear. The axle retainer bracket seats them at the correct depth. I have had to resort to smearing a thin layer of RTV made for gear lube, like Mopar RTV or Permatex Gear Lube RTV around the outer sealing edge of the seal but @mrblaine can give you the name/number of a good seal that works well there. I don't believe he has any problems with it sealing.
I believe that part # is for dana 44 axle.I used Mopar seals part number 5014852AB. I just bought national seals now to go back in. Didn't want to wait on the shipping of mopar seals again.
Shit lol. Yep I had read that before, that's what I get for trying to juggle two balls at once. His issue is on the front, Jerry. I think you are referring to the rear.
It does actually work in the TJ Rubicon model. Those are the same seals I have in mine. That part number is good for a JK, not a TJ.
That's the ones I just bought so hopefully these work!National part # should be 710068 as long as its a dana 30 front axle.
