Hard to believe we are in our 6th month without a kitchen. Some of the cabinets finally went in week before last and the floor tile and fireplace chimney tile last week. I'm smoothing/finessing some small areas where drywall was a little rough around the French doors and along the floor where we decided we don't want base boards, will use either small 1/4 round or a bead of caulk to match the tile. Remaining cabinets going in Tuesday then I will have appliances delivered and start on installing fridge and freezer. Counter tops and splash 2-3 weeks out.

If you've never heard of a ticking stick I used one to lay out the irregular cuts on the top two tiles on the wall, look it up, pretty cool. @AndyG you ever heard of it?

Love it. The cabinets are beautiful and the tile chimney wall is interesting to say the least. It would definitely pass as awesome in my house

The remaining cabinets will go in today. Meanwhile I am installing a few of the old ones in the laundry, 1-36x15 wall cab, 1-12" base and a 24" pantry. I already installed the wall cabinet and the stainless laundry sink. I had some brand new sheets of stainless in my shop that I picked up at the scrap yard a few years ago, I bent one on my HF sheet metal brake and installed it on the wall around the sink. There are 2 pieces with the side wall one wrapping around behind the back one about 6" for a waterproof seam with no caulk needed. The steel runs past the sink because that's where the 12" base will go with a piece of 12" counter top on it.

Got the column fridge and freezer installed, took almost 2 days. First you install the pairing kit which fastens everything together to make it one single unit, wheel kits, water pairing kit so you only need one water feed for both units then the heater kit that goes in between them. Also had to reverse the doors because we wanted the fridge on the left.

The upper cabinets have been removed twice now because they didn't fit the first time so he made them shorter but we still needed another 5/8" to fit the trim kit so he pulled them again this morning, took them to the shop, shortened them and brought them back after lunch. Thankfully the errors are all on him and won't cost me anything.

The instructions for the ice kit and the trim kit were piss poor and the supplied assembly screws were terrible. I had to drill the stainless trim kit in 4 places where they drilled the holes in the wrong place. Technical support is non-existent, all you get is someone from India reading out of the same instructions you already have I sure miss the days when you called for support and you got someone who knew all about the product and was easy to understand.

Will fire up the units tomorrow then start on the range. Countertops coming Tuesday. The corner by the window gets an appliance garage after the counter top goes in.

No, my wife actually doesnt like that so we will have all stainless appliances.

Still plugging away, got all the appliances and the sink installed and up and running. Will install the under sink water filter tomorrow. Also starting to put the laundry together. Backsplashes go in Tuesday and door pulls in a couple weeks.

The wife wanted to use our old 24" pantry in the laundry and that turned out to be a nightmare. There was no way to move it into the laundry in one piece because it is too tall to fit thru the door standing up and once thru the door there is no way to stand it back up without hitting the laundry ceiling which is lower. It is a Mills Pride unit that is put together with cam locks and dowels. So I proceeded to take it apart. Most of the metal pins that the cams lock into broke but I had saved another cabinet for parts so I robbed the pins from that one and started to re-assemble it in place while it was standing upright with one side against the wall which is really tricky as they are designed to be assembled laying on the floor. I had all the shelves locked in to the first half and had added some 1/4 rounds to the rear panel to support them till I could put the second 1/2 on.

I went to pull a nail out of the rear panel to make a small squaring adjustment and that's when the entire thing fell on me, broke all the pins, split some of the dowel holes and gave me two big cuts on my arm. This thing is MDF and weighs a lot. So after the wife bandaged me up I got out the glue and glued and clamped all the broken and split parts back together and threw away the cam locks and drilled them out for dowels and left everything sit overnight.

This morning I again assembled it but this time I used some 1x2's screwed into the wall and overlapping into the cabinet so it couldn't fall again. I patched the drywall afterwards.Took most of the day and some added brackets and some real plywood on the back over that cheesy 1/8" hardboard it came with but it's now finished, solid and square, and you can't tell it was nearly demolished yesterday. I'll put a pic of it last.

We are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Your new kitchen is looking great. Glad you’re not too banged up.
I just may have that same cabinet that was our kitchen pantry and is now hiding down the hall and still used as a pantry.
This one may have been painted some time ago by my crafty wife.
