Hi guys, I've read as many warn winch post on this forum I could. Ever since getting my jeep I've always wanted one, and from what people have said on here it seems they are the cream of the crop.
I have been watching Facebook Marketplace for about a year, and today I scored this one for 250 bucks. I wasn't able to test it before buying it so for the price I decided to take the gamble. After talking to the PO, it was some kind of factory Land Rover winch, and he assured me before he put it in his basement for 3 years, it worked. It came with a remote, landrover bag, two hooks, a set of wires, and the winch itself. No fairleed.
if anyone has more information on this unit, I'd love to hear it. The date code sticker is broken off, unfortunately.
I want to mount the winch as far back towards the grill as possible on the OEM front bumper. From what I read on here, a raised winch plate seems to be the way to go to get the winch above the sway bar. If anyone has any recs on a budget-friendly mount that will get the winch as far back as possible, let me know.
I quickly connected the winch to the battery and tried to use the remote, no luck, so I am going to take a closer look this week and try to test the motor itself first. I will keep you guys updated.
