It just happened!

Got around to installing the @Fluxor hinges and tire carrier. These parts are a work of art and easy to install, beyond getting the factory torx bolts removed. In my case they had already been removed, when installing the MORryde hinge kit.

In terms of the fluxor hinges, the only issue I ran into was clearing the BMB taillights. To make it work, the top bolt was flipped, then about 1/8" was ground off a corner of the bolt head, on the taillight side. After that, it was a straightforward install.

For the tire carrier, it fit together perfectly, and I really like the flexibility to adjust the spare tire in and out. I drilled a 1/4 hole in the tire mounting plate to allow the installation of one of these lights, which is used as a 3rd brake light.

I'll need to make a bracket to install my backup camera, which will require a little creative thinking to get it in a good location.

Bottom line on the hinge kit, it worked fantastic. With a 107 lb spare on the back, my single biggest concern was whether or not the tailgate would drop when I opened it, which it did with the MORryde hinge kit.

I'm happy to report that @Fluxor didn't disappoint and there was zero drop when opening the back. The only advice I'd give for the install, if you have a heavy spare, is to have someone available to help lift it. In my case, the spare tire was off/on at least 8 - 10 times while test fitting and adjusting everything. Now that everything is where it needs to be, I'll apply blue thread locker to all the carrier bolts. For the 3 bolts that hold the spare on, I'll use red thread locker.

As much as I'd love to do this, due to family reasons, I've got some significant restrictions on being away for any extended period. I'll send you a message and see if there's any possibility of getting away for a couple days though!

I totally understand... Give me another year or two and I will come visit into VA and we can hit some trail up there.

Looks awesome!!

If it has adjustability - did you run locktite and/or nylocs?

How are you thinking to run the camera? I'm mentally prepping on the same challenge with my @Fluxor corners and the MORryde hinges & mounting plate (already had the in my build pile before @Fluxor hinges hit the market...)

I've been thinking camera in the center of the wheel and use the ring-light 3rd light that I picked up.

Or - go with your center brake light (which I like a lot to minimize/remove blockage by the wheel on the ring light) and mount the camera hanging below the mounting surface and looking through one of the wheel gaps.

Put me on your contact list when you do make a trip to this area! Would enjoy a ride with you. VA is certainly drivable for me - or hit up Rausch Creek in PA.

When I make it out to that area I'll be staying for a few weeks if not longer... IMO there isn't any reason to make that long of a trip and not check out the area.
I might travel around some but will not go far. There are a few members I'd like to hook up with for some runs and those down a beer or coffee with..

Thanks for posting this. Originally I had the odd shape in the oe location to remind me which way the plate goes when they are welded. Now that I added the 5x5.5 pattern on center I don’t really need it. I could just do two 1/4” holes for third brake lights. I’m interested in how this light holds up.

Had to finally install the windows back in the Jeep. Also, while I've not gotten around to making a backup light bracket yet, I've had a chance to put a couple hundred miles on the new @Fluxor tailgate hinges. There is no movement at all on the tailgate now and it doesn't drop when opening the door. I was able to get the tire snubbers set up so there is a slight amount of pressure on the spare. No vibration or movement when driving, which takes stress of the tailgate spot welds.

My only complaint is the misses made a comment the other day that the Jeep seems to have a lot of "bling" on it. I tried to explain that there's a difference between aluminum and chrome. Aluminum belongs on a Jeep, for certain things. Chrome does not! :(
