I find it more than a bit odd that these 3 liked your reply.

That means they are as confused as you are or as limited in experience. Some steel fenders are heavy. Crawltec fenders are not heavy at all. I doubt they weigh much more if any than the stock ones do.

Crawltechs are very close to factory despite the outers being steel. There isn't much to them. They are likely a bit less than factory after you deduct the weight of the factory fender mounts.

Matt had Crawlteks at ~21lbs each

Edit: removed word total

Doesn't look like it.

Genright fenders have been a good product for me.

Aluminum is lighter and in some applications it’s more significant than others. For me, in many anpplications Aluminum is better to avoid rust.

Just a reminder that not all hi-lines are cut the same, and may impact rocker selection.

I was looking at doing Nemesis Rockers (Billy+Titan) and corners after seeing them on my buddy's LJ, and I loved the idea of their custom cut corners.

I'm running MB aluminum hi-lines and we determined that the Nem rockers would be a couple inches into the rear of my fender openings.

Since the OP said part of this was driven by PoPo wanting more tire coverage one question should be what flares if any do you have now? And what width flare are you looking for?
Fenders either steel or aluminum with flares are limited now.

Maybe you read more into my quote, I am not confused at all.

I was comparing Genright Alum to their steel ones. According to Genright there front Alum fenders w/4 flare weigh 9.3 lbs and there steel ones weigh 21.75 lbs that's a HEAVY difference. And according to Google
  • Steel Stock Fenders: Expect roughly 18 lbs for a base model YJ replacement, with TJ equivalents likely in the 20-22 lb range, similar to the heavy steel counterparts for other models.
20-22 lbs compared to 9.3 lbs is a big difference to me. I didn't go out and search every brand of replacement fenders on the market only Genright's steel to Alum. ;)

You can cherry pick all you like to support your flawed position, doesn't change the fact that the steel Crawltec fenders don't weigh very much.

I didn't cherry pick anything I just stated facts about Genrights that I run. You are the one that went searching to prove me wrong boosting your ego

It sure looks like Crawltec fenders must use a lot of HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY Packing materials as there shipping weight is 80l bs and according to the web they weigh 21lbs each that a LOT MORE than my 9.3 lbs for Genrights

Again the part that matter IMO is that even if the Crawltech fenders weigh 8lbs or 20 lbs it doesn't matter if you need fenders that have flares.

Hopefully Fluxor can design a fender with a detectable flare that can work. Until then...
