Hi guys,

Merry Christmas. The wife and I got the little ones a power wheel gator type thing, which is super sweet. However there is no on or off button and no lights. Once the battery plugs in behind a screwed in panel it's live.

I was curious if anyone could help me figure out where to tap in to add a power button as well as a switch for lights or running lights if the power is on.

Thanks again.

My son's first (powerwheel) Jeep, was almost 20 yrs ago. I don't think it had any on/off button other than the accelerator pedal. It didn't have lights either.

Looking at that diagram I think that short "z" shaped wire is positive and the on/off button would connect in between the the plug and the thermal protector. You could probably connect the light switch, or even just the lights, to the side of the on/off button that leads to the thermal protector.

Adding turn signals would be nice too, but are a little more than I could help you with.

I made some assumptions here and labelled the parts of the diagram and what I think they are.

If that's the case, the power switch just needs to break that positive leg to the pedal switch. The lights can really be wired in anywhere in between that switch and the pedal switch so that they only come on when the switch is 'on', but not rely on the pedal switch for power. Negative for the lights can be grabbed anywhere between the battery and the motor protection.
