Tesla is selling used plaids for under $50k. Remember in fast and the furious when a 10 second car was a main part of the story. A plaid is a 9 second car.

There will always be an old guy with more money than me and a faster car. Going out and buying a car and bragging about how fast it is is just not exciting to me

Just saying you could probably buy a Tesla for less than you have into your MR2. I could have bought one for less than I spent on axles for my LJ2. They aren’t that expensive.

No idea who that is, but I believe it. While the footprint of the car is substantial, the space afforded for operator and occupant is minimal in comparison. It is 60's race car spec (which makes it even sexier to me 😀)

One of these would probably be more comfortable for me (and I'm not joking).

Those are actually surprisingly roomy. Well, the newer ones anyway.
I'm 6'2" and fit fine in my daughter's.

I found the same thing in the classic car environment. I’ve had my car since the 80s and have done everything on it myself - engine, transmission, suspension, interior, convertible top, body work, and spraying paint - all just to keep my daily driver alive. Then I moved here where folks go to car shows with a nearly perfect vehicle that they opened their wallet for and don’t even own a wrench or know how to use one. And these people are considered “car guys”. I quit going to car shows because of this.

Yep totally!! Almost the same interests... But not quite. And I'm not trying to impress people, it's how I spend my time and like to relate like that. Going fast would be cool of course but I have limited time and money so it's not like I'm trying to compete with people that much

It's all normal from what I've seen , I total identify with the guy that can tell you everything about their car because they built it. But their is a place for guys with what I call " liquid cooled wallets ". Once I met a guy that had a replica original Corvette gran sport , I asked him about the car and we were talking about the originals . The guy wasn't bragging at all , but he decided to spend the money to have the car he wanted. The roller body cost $ 135,000 and he always wanted a hot big block Chevy . He had a 540 c.i.d with fuel injection built with a wild roller cam and big headers. I asked him If he would mind firing it up so I could hear it. He did and it was real badass . He was real happy to talk cars and liked a lot of cars parked near by, (typical car gathering fair ) . I couldn't get the BBC soundtrack off my mind , so I asked what kind money it took to build . He didn't blink an eye and said he spent 75,000 - 80,000 on the engine and around 6,000 on the scattershield , clutch and 6 speed. I'm glad I had the experience it changed my outlook a little.

Indeed, they are. I can drive one comfortably, respectable head and leg room....and I'm talking of the original. That said, I have an '04 BMW MCS and it's not bad, either. More head room than an e90 I owned, for sure.

Quite honestly, his head's so far up his own ass he probably hasn't seen them. 😀 Also important to remember, he's a Democrat, so not much of a problem solver, either (but definitely good at creating them). :sneaky:

Tesla faces a proposed class action claiming it speeds up odometers on its electric vehicles so they fall out of warranty faster, saving Elon Musk’s company from having to pay for repairs.

The plaintiff Nyree Hinton alleged that Tesla odometer readings reflect energy consumption, driver behavior and “predictive algorithms” rather than actual mileage driven.

Tesla faces a proposed class action claiming it speeds up odometers on its electric vehicles so they fall out of warranty faster, saving Elon Musk’s company from having to pay for repairs.

The plaintiff Nyree Hinton alleged that Tesla odometer readings reflect energy consumption, driver behavior and “predictive algorithms” rather than actual mileage driven.

He said the odometer on the 2020 Model Y he bought in December 2022 with 36,772 miles on the clock ran at least 15% fast, based on his other vehicles and driving history, and for a while said he drove 72 miles a day when at most he drove 20.

Hinton, a Los Angeles resident, said this caused his 50,000-mile basic warranty to expire well ahead of schedule, leaving him with a $10,000 suspension repair bill that he thought Tesla should cover.

“By tying warranty limits and lease mileage caps to inflated ‘odometer’ readings, Tesla increases repair revenue, reduces warranty obligations, and compels consumers to purchase extended warranties prematurely,” the complaint said.

Tesla and its lawyer did not immediately respond on Thursday to requests for comment, but have denied all material allegations in the lawsuit. The Austin, Texas-based company does not have a media relations office.

Hinton is seeking compensatory and punitive damages for Tesla drivers in California, potentially encompassing more than 1 million vehicles, court papers show.

Tesla moved his lawsuit this month to Los Angeles federal court from a state court in that city.
