When I did the stereo install earlier this month, what was left of the defroster vent trim panel lived its final day. A few years ago the grid section in it broke out when I was wiping it down, but the whole thing was very brittle. I have found new black, and I think grey/charcoal ones, but are there any in sand that are sold? I’d go black, as it shouldn’t look too horrible, but would love sand if possible…. I thought about looking for a used one, but those are going to be old an getting brittle too.

Also, are there any cooler aftermarket ones that might redirect the defrost better?

Head to your favorite metal shop...buy a pattern of expanded or punch plate or whatever...cut, paint to match and install.

Been meaning to do mine.

Not sure if I want to go metal. If I went that custom, I’d definitely want adjustable vents…

The only thing the grid does is stop things from falling into the ducts. Buy some epoxy and some stainless wire mesh and never worry about having to treat that trim piece like a Faberge egg again.

I was going to do that, but when I used the trim tool to pop the clips loose, the whole trim piece shattered. 15 years of Florida sun really does a lot of damage…

So looking into it, the color of my interior is Khaki.

I may just go with the Slate trim piece, and live with it...
