Been working on installing new taillights this week. I got the BMB to replace my incredibly dim stockers. The first part of the adventure was figuring out my '97 had YJ connectors, not the TJ ones, so I had to wait for shipping again after getting ready to install the new ones.

Little bummer but luckily Blaine sells the harness side connectors too so that wasn't too big of a deal.
I didn't take all that many pictures of the setup, it is just a bit of sitting in a chair and working through preparing butt connectors and heat shrink. The instructions are really nice, and even someone like me didn't feel confused going through it. I'd suggest reading through all of it and understanding what all pieces do before starting, because I didn't and almost messed up with the license plate light. But that's my fault lol.

Luckily the 97 doesn't need a new relay, you can just cut a trace. That was the hardest part of the whole deal, giving the dash the ol' reach around to get it out. You can also see I cracked the housing a bit taking it apart, I melted it back together with my solder iron. Good as new!

And boom there we go! They look sooo much better than my stockers in their dumb little jail cells. And SO much brighter. Feeling much more confident I'm not going to get hit slowing down/taking a turn now than I used to lol. And they flash at a normal rate with the trace cut in the relay. Very happy with them.
Whoever suggested using a magic eraser to take the rust-water stains off, thanks, it worked perfectly. And you can only barely tell where I used plain white spray paint to repaint a few rust spots (was hoping the lights would cover it all completely but oh well)!!!
Also... I read you only get stickers if you ask...

Absolutely cracked me up. I was hoping for a wizard sticker but I got Hello Kitty doing her laundry

guess I'll have to wait til I buy brake stuff to get the wizard sticker.
