AUXBEAM Installation

So.. since you asked the same question three times... I am guessing it is important.

The Auxbeam kit includes two mounting brackets. I assume you mean the one that I used to mount on the radiator support. It is in the Auxbeam kit. Under the foam in the box.

Maybe it’s me but I think it is some AI shenanigans using forums to dial in interaction by foreign actors for nefarious purposes..but it could just be the voices talking…😉

I can't find that grill support mounting bracket anywhere, do you have any specifics? Thanks!

Do you have any specifics on this grill support bracket. Having trouble locating it. Thanks!

The L bracket comes with the Auxbeam, he and I just mounted it to the rod that Jeep uses to support the radiator with some hose clamps. There are 2 long rods from the firewall to the radiator support. Dohh... too slow.

Not sure how that happened. Thanks

Wondering if MikekiM might share where you located the main breaker (60 amp) for the control box? I am going to use the support rod for the box but don’t want the breaker loose.

On the back side of the mounting bracket, facing the engine in the configuration you have. I've changed the orientation of that bracket a few times. I have it horizontal now, but the breaker is still on the back side of the plate with the controller on the front.

If you add the @ sign in from of a users name an alert will be sent to them that you quoted their user name. like.. @Grumpy’s Rubi

@MikekiM thanks for the note tag and that’s the orientation I did tonight. You mentioned a location under the cowling to route the control cable in to the jeep? I have the switch panel above the dash vents so need to finger that out next.

There you go!. Be careful when you replace the clear plastic cover. If you mount the cover the wrong way it still clips on, but presses against the reset button killing power to the controller. I couldn't figure out why I had everything wired properly but none of the accessories worked. Take a look at this...

Got a lot more cluttered once I did the Big 7 kit.

The switch panel.. I've had it all over the place. Started on the lower center console, then on top of the passenger airbag safety switch, then up top where you have it, but that was too intrusive to my eye. Moved it to the left of the cluster and ultimately had a custom panel made for it that replaces the stock switch panel. That's where it is now. As far as routing the wire, I ran across the firewall and went in through the foam filled hole below the master cylinder. Not a great picture..

If I were doing it again, I would go through the firewall on the passenger side, by the where the heater core lines pass through exiting behind the fuse panel in the glove box. I keep a single wire threaded through there, with one end secured in the engine bay and the other behind the fuse panel just to make it easier to snake wires through. The space between the fuse panel and firewall is a black hole.

Thanks, the PO had the amp wire pulled through under the master cylinder so I’ll go through by the heater hoses. Gotta pick up aux trigger source from fuse panel anyway. Good info on leaving a pull wire in place.

Super happy with the kit and install. The controller/fuse panel is still mounted on the radiator support, though I made one subtle change to the orientation of the clamps I used, shown in the post you linked to. After driving for a bit, the weight of the fuse panel and given it was cantilevered out on the support was causing the panel to swing to about 30 degree tilt. It didn't impact performance at all, just annoyed my anal retentiveness. So I flipped the clamps 180 degrees so the panel was mounted closer to the support rod and less cantilevered. everything is the same other than the orientation of the clamps... You'll have to look close to see it. The control panel now stays right vertical.

Control wire loom runs along radiator support, zip tied nice and neat, to the firewall and to the drivers side and enters through the grommet in the drivers footwell. After doing that I discovered I could have routed it under the cowel and into the cabin in the middle of the dash, but no harm no foul. All wires to devices I control with the switch panel run along the support rod and then disperse to wherever they are needed.. some go left some right.

I did change from the early Auxbeam model that had manual dimming to the auto-dim model. I regret that. The panel backlight dims so much when the cabin goes dark that seeing the buttons is really difficult. I still have the old one, but the switch panel and controller aren't interchangeable so I am kind of stuck because...

..the last change was the location of the switch panel. I removed it from the lower console and had a custom switch panel 3D printed. The Auxbeam panel is inset into the switch panel with a few other items. Since older Auxbeam and new auto-dim panel have a slightly different shape I am stuck with the new one.

Other than the dimming issue I am 100% happy with the kit and the install.

Where did you get the switch panel? That is exactly how I want to mount mine.

If you're referring to the Auxbeam kit.. the first one I had came from @jscherb
The second one I purchased direct from Auxbeam.
If you're referring the panel that the Auxbeam panel is mounted in.. I had it custom made. I'll look for the vendor info.

Ya i was referring to the 3d printed part. I already have an auxbeam switch panel but I don't like how I have it mounted.

I had tried it in a few different locations. Still not 100% I am leaving it where it is. I've seen a ideas I like more.

That said, Custom3DFab. They were good to work with. It took a long time since it was custom and I sent the Auxbeam switch panel to them for dimensions. I might be open to selling mine. PM me if that resonates with you.
