Anyone have any experience with 2-piece hard tops?

I’m shopping around for a new hardtop after I destroyed my factory one in a wreck. The two piece tops from RallyTops and DV8 are enticing though I’m a little concerned about leaks between the two pieces.

Anyone have experience with these tops?

I have no experience with them, but if they're anything like the JK 2-piece hard tops (the factory ones), then they'll have leak issues for sure.

I'm skeptical until I hear otherwise.

Avoid them. Get a factory hardtop.

Last one I drove was noisier than a soft top.

They are prone to leak.

Thanks. I won’t be ordering a replacement until late spring. Which one did you order?

Love, love, LOVE my two piece Rally Top. Ordered from Extreme Terrain as was less $$ than directly from Rally! Shipped it to my mechanic for install. Looks great, no more flapping soft top. No leaks between top pieces or ANYWHERE. RT contacted me with tracking number and whole experience was great. In my opinion, don’t hesitate to go Rally! Can’t speak for DV8 but RT thru ExtremeTerrain was the best bang for my buck.

Awesome. Thanks for the feedback. I’m still on the fence between which one but I’ve heard more feedback about Rally Tops. Does the front piece fit inside your TJ when removed?

I had already removed the back seat so my dogs can stretch out so yeah, lots of stuff fits there! Didn’t want to chance the seat unfolding on them.....it’s a squeeze, and kinda awkward, but I rarely take it off.

I have removed the back seat as well and have storage boxes.

I’m looking at the 2-piece in an effort to drive topless a month earlier into the spring and a month later into the fall for those 40 degree mornings and 65 degree afternoons.

I would need to carry the front piece with me.

I also have the Rally 2 piece. Very quiet. No leaks. I do wish it had a vent.
The vent on the OEM top was functional? Being new to the Jeep world, I thought it was only for looks. Why do you wish you had one?

I installed the top with weather stripping to keep it tight and quiet. I didn't realize it could make it airtight, but it did. Now, as long as the air is on recycle, very quiet. When outside air is turned on, there are little clicks in back as the air escapes. No biggie, of course, but they get on my nerves after awhile, so I stay on recycle.

What brand was that? I'm looking into the rally tops brand

I’m honestly not sure but I would carefully read reviews-

First thing that comes to mind is how does it work over the long haul- years down the road - flex happens.

I’ll see if I can reach the guy and if he knows- I think he got it for a deal on craigslist if I remember right.

He said it was a bestop.

I was not impressed-noisy- who knows it could have sat in the weather and the seals been degraded

Andy, I’m on year 4 and no water leaks. Seems to be holding up well. It is much quieter than my soft top. Still very happy with it.
