An "Endless" Rubicon Build

Picked up a new axial scx10.3 cj not too long ago, decided to replicate my jeep. I had an extra can of touch up and some clear, painted all the armor silver to copy the aluminum. Came out pretty good 🤙🤙🤙

Picked up another jeep! Found an 04 rubicon on a local online auction.

I was the only one who ended up bidding on it, won the auction for $2000 but they had a reserve of 6500. Got an email the next day that they removed the reserve and I won. Total cost ended up being 2800$ after all the fees. Picked it up this weekend. It was in a rollover but honestly doesn’t look too bad.

2004 Wrangler Rubicon with 61k miles
Hardtop is ruined, windshield is ruined, rear track bar welds broke off the rear axle, right rear shock is broken.

It has a warn xd9000i winch, warn front bumper and steering box skid, aftermarket rear tire swing and some other little goodies.

Found a deal for a windshield frame for 100$

I have so many extra parts from my current jeep. I’m going to throw my old Currie 3” coils on, rancho 9000x shocks, rampage bowless top, Clayton track bar. Gonna search for a set of 33s or 35s

Fresh wash, cleaned up all the broken glass and installed my old rampage frameless soft top. Still debating on what I want to do with this jeep. Part it out or fix it and sell it? 🤔🤔🤔

Sold my poison spyder rear stinger, picked up a fishbone rear bumper with frame tie ins. Wanted something simple and flush to the rear. Also picked up a set of Genright aluminum rear extreme flares.

What a deal for $2800, with the winch especially. Do you have a dealer license, or what auction site are you using?

I bought it off Copart.com I had to sign up and pay a 100$ membership fee but I can only bid up to 2000$ which isn’t bad. After the fees and whatnot it was 2800$ but for a rubicon with 61k, that’s cheap. I’m still not sure what I want to do with it. The auction site is only 10min from my job, I showed up with a trailer and they put it on the trailer with a fork lift bucket loader.

Welp, some stuff happened 😂 I haven’t posted in awhile. Sold the wheels and tires, sold the axles.

In process of picking up a set of Dynatrac 60s, ordered race line beadlocks and 40in Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT. It was like a snowball effect.

I’m going to stick with the hydro assist. Need to figure out what I’m doing with the steering. My goal is to make the jeep still drivable on the street.

Hell yeah, dude! Can't wait to see her on 40s. I think TNT makes a front stretch kit that keeps the steering box and locates it forward if you want to stretch the front. I've also heard of people fabricating a steering box mount on the Motobilt front half kit. I would not recommend full hydro if you want to keep street driving it. Mine just doesn't track straight easily.

Got a lot done this weekend. So I sold my axles and a bunch of other goodies for $4500. I sold my 5 wheels and tires for $3500. I found these older dynatrac axles for $5500. They were put in a jeep and just sat for years. They’re not prorock 60s, I believe they’re trail 60s. They have all the dynatrac stamps and Dynatrac serial numbers. They have 5.13s and ARB air lockers. They even came with the locker pump and all wiring. The same guy also had a full poison spyder cage…for $500!!!

I got the axles home Friday and started stripping everything down. I knew off the start that it needed calipers and pads. Dynatrac said I’d have to source rotors and redrill them. So I’ll take them to work tomorrow and cut the rotors. It took ALOT of research to find out what calipers and pads they used. The front are 78-87 JB6 GM K2500 calipers. The rear are 75-76 Cadillac Eldorado rear calipers(disc with cable e-brake).

I used rustoleum rust remover and let it soak for 30min, used a drill and grinding disc to scuff up both axles. They both turned out very well.

Got the front axle bolted today and everything lined up and went pretty easy. Hopefully next couple weekends I’ll get the brakes done and the rear axle in.
