Airing Down

If you want fast, the best solution is a CO2 tank matched with a set of Monster Valves from Power Tank. I could air down my 40’s from 25 to 10 in less than 15 seconds. And pump them back up in about the same time. Crazy fast - it’s all about that valve.

Downside is you have to protect the valve. I ran them on Spyderlocks which protected the valve with the big rock ring. Rick (@Wildman) now has those wheels and valves on his rig. Now that I run Raceline’s which have a small rock ring, I was worried an errant rock or branch would snap off the exposed valve - then they REALLY deflate fast..

Your results finally let me convince myself that a tank does not help that much.

A tank (which will fit in the jeep) makes absolutely no difference when filling tires. Think about it. When filling a tire, once the pressure in the tank drops enough for the pump to come on (almost immediately), in order to get the tire up to pressure you have to fill the tire as well as the tank, completely negating the fact that the initial pressure in the tank goes into the tire quickly.
 
Is there a good comparison somewhere, I found a couple but they don't list numbers or were written by a bot. It's also pretty hard to compare CFM when they don't always state the PSI that their claimed CFM was calculated at.

IMO it's not worth the space or potential failure points. My tank is located where my tranny cooler should have gone so I had to custom mount the tranny cooler in a different location because of it. I don't run air tools anymore so no benefit there.

But, looking at the numbers you'll see that with the tank depleted and in the system it doesn't make much difference to the individual tire fill times. If you want to fill the fastest the tank is slightly quicker, but not worth the hassle.

The other thing to note is that the slower the person doing the work is the more the tank helps because it fills when you aren't filling tires. So if you want to shoot the shit between tire fills the tank will save you some time.

It does make a difference. The difference is so small that its not worth it but it does speed it up a small amount. Look at @Apparition data. My thought was the high pressure in the tank starting off as well as the fact the compressor can continue to run as you switch from tire to tire would be a big improvement. Turns out no.

Has anybody tried the four tire inflation systems with the small compressors… seems like it would be fairly cheap to build…just wondering if The small compressors would overheat too fast…

I run a 4 tire system with a Vlair400. It is not quicker at all (may actually take longer due to the time it takes to neatly coil it back up), BUT I like the ability to set it up once and the just check the gauge every few minutes. IMO it beats sitting hunched over at each tire instead I stand around doing nothing!

I also agree it takes up more space, I had to do some re-organizing behind my seat to accommodate.

3 times in 6 months. I can’t tell from physically looking if the wheels have rotated on the wheel. I haven’t noticed any balance issues. I could mark them where they are currently, but I don’t expect to lose any beads at 12psi.

They are turning. Take a razor knife and cut a small V in the tire next to the valve stem as a marker to see how far (sorta) that they are moving.

Fastest method is to trailer it :) I rarely air back up after wheeling, just drive it on the trailer and strap it down then walk around and talk as people finish airing up! :D

I do want a set of adjustable deflector valves. May order a set soon.

Best thing ever. Everyone else I'm with is using ARB tool that takes the stem out. They are bent over checking checking checking and I just thread on and have a beer (not really). You can actually drive when they are still airing down, just dont want to go into rocks or any other terrain that can tear them off.
 
Big bore two stroke! The old “coffee can” we used to call them, in reference to the size of the piston. Great desert bike. Husky? I rode a CR500 for years. If I was to get a new bike 300 two stroke KTM looks like the perfect setup.

Pre Production It465 Serial #008 with a bored out YZ490 barrel bored 2mm over.
Got it out of and old Dairy Barn in Santa Paul back in 85, the fellow was sell off over 50 dirt bikes.
I was told that is was one that Harvey Mushman owned but there was no title on the bike.
To get it titled they had to run the seral number thru the national data base and it showed that it cleared customs in May 78.

We have the dual ARB in the JL. While it's nowhere close to the YORK in the TJ it gets the job done. I'd say about 2-3 min a tire from 15-30psi while the York is a minute from 8-25psi. I think the only real advantage of a tank, other than if you need pressure for lockers, would be you'll have a bit more pressure built if you run air tools.

There are some really dumbass products out there, that one is near the top of any list of dumbass products.

You should casually mention that to our Utah friend. He's very happy with his.
