ABS install?

Whats got you wanting to add ABS to your Jeep? I've always hated it, and intentionally disabled it or deleted it on just about every vehicle I've ever had. way too many instances of patchy ice near an intersection and the vehicle ABS refuses to let me just stop even though 3 of 4 wheels are on pavement.

Unfortunately the generation of ABS that was available on the TJs is nothing like the modern integrated ABS traction control systems available on modern cars.

Modern integrated ABS far outperforms human drivers in terms of shortest stopping distance and maintaining control. Older generations of ABS really only offered the ability to maintain control while only slightly increasing stopping distance.

Growing up without ABS, Traction Control, AirBags, Electronic Ignition, EFI and the rest of the modern problematic doodads, there are only two I’d prefer to have. Anyone care to take a guess, I’ll give a hint; points, dwell meters and individual jets are rarely seen or even available at Auto Parts stores.

As I get older, I find myself appreciative of the modern day creature comforts from; heated/cooled seats to large GPS screens. But there are still two things I absolutely hate having no control over and that is being able to donuts in the snow and slamming on the brakes to see just how slick it is.

My kids will never know what it’s like to actually work on and drive a car without a computer and YouTube. The Jeep is about the closest they will come to experiencing American Muscle and even this thing requires my OBDII tool every once in a while.

We went from uber to WayMo and because of all this tech my kids and the next gen are hosed.

In short, save your time, efforts and money for the aforementioned.

In other words, the less you do, the less you know how to do.

I will say that ABS is a good thing on a daily commuter for sure. But put it in 4x4 when it's slick out and it's almost as good. Makes a HUGE difference on snow and ice.
