This happened today. Fortunately, I was at the ORV park about 7 minutes drive from the house and wife was able to swing over. Picked up a spicer 5-760X. I guess my plate is full tomorrow recovering the rig.

Let me know how the install goes. I have the hubs, ball joints and axle u-joints lined up for mine. Parts are sitting/waiting for install date. I'm looking to do everything after our next run.

I'm now eyeing that dana 44 front currie housing with locker, shafts and my choice of gears for just over 4k... this is your fault!
They have great stuff, eh?! I would love me some of them shafts. Probably never have a problem again...You’re welcome. Just Empty Every Pocket

Went out to recover the Jeep today. Every motorcycle and ATV on the planet was out there. We removed the wheel, the brake caliper, the rotor, and then had some trouble from the backside of the hub removing the three 12 point 13mm bolts. They all had some shearing on them due to the destroyed outer shaft ears. Inner ears are not broken, but they are pretty beat up. The inner splines look good, so I am assuming all is well in the diff. We stuck a rag in the axle tube And buttoned everything back up. Trip home was uneventful. I am searching for some stock Dana 30 shafts. If you have some you WTS, shoot me a price.

If your replacing the shafts now is the time to go with chromoly and be done with it.
If you need any other parts let me know I just did the big brake kit and have all the stock parts.

I have been pondering this. I really want to save the money for the TT. I need to spend about $1250 on the parts unless I can find some rear CA's for about half price, then I'll be in about $950. My struggle is whether I really need Chromoly's with 33's, but I keep answering the question myself by looking back at the trail carnage.

Well, I dropped the coin on the Carbon Offroad. I figure this is going to happen again if I keep wheelin. So it's a question of whether I'm going to stop wheelin or not. A no brainer.

I have loved Carbon Offroad shafts since I discovered them a couple of years ago, I believe through @Mr. Bills. Made in the good ole' USA and I like to try to buy stuff made here, support this country that has the stamp 'Made in China' all over it. Also, 15 Year UNLIMITED WARRANTY, no limit on tire sizes.

I may get moving on this build sooner than expected.

U made the right decision. I wouldn’t put stock shafts back in. I’ve seen a few jeeps brake that joint before and it always turns out to be a pain in the ass. We had a Cherokee snap one with the entire nose of his Jeep slammed in a huge ditch, we where stuck with a 2 wheel drive Jeep in a huge hole that we had to get a diesel truck to pull it out.

Front shafts are next up on my list too. I've seriously been eyeballing those Carbon shafts. I like everything I see and read about them. Good choice.

I’ll report back on my experience with Carbon as well as the quality after I’ve looked at it up close and taken some measurements alongside the stock shafts. I almost went with Revolution, but it would be the Discovery series and I believe they are made in Taiwan or something, 10 yr warranty. They may also have a US version. I can’t recall. If so I’m sure they are more spendy. EDIT: they do make them, they are out of stock. $889

I've seen those. Seems like you could get both front and rear Carbons for about the same price as the US made Revolution fronts. IF....you can find them in stock. Carbon is still at the top of my list.
Keep us posted on how you like them.

For what it worth I went with Revolution on the initial regear and the super 35 and the axles were bent. Hard to say if it was damaged in shipping or when I went to Moab but none the less they had to come out.
Although they have great reviews I was a bit hesitant to put another set in.

So...You found some wheeling in Washington! Good for you. I see you also found the limits of a Dana 30, and are wisely deciding to upgrade on alloy shafts.

As a guy running full double adjustable control arms...you just need to suck it up and and do it. It is so worth it. My jeep rides and handles so much better. Keep watching the used adds. They come around once in a while. I'm still working on getting the tummy tuck. I think I'll be getting a decent bonus this quarter...so maybe I'll spring for it. The motorhome is sucking me dry right now though!
