Correction —- The Midland Micromobile radios WILL NOT work on FRS channels 8-14 due to power restrictions, but will work on channels FRS 1-7.

Educate me on GMRS radios

Ask me in a couple of weeks, but I'm assuming it will be way way more than CB. GMRS is still LOS so I'll have to test it.
It's also a lot clearer to listen to.
It should, as long as you get an NMO cable with a 3/8" mounting option and everything is grounded properly.
There is no reason why they wouldn't has long as the handheld isn't using channels 8-14.
Yes there is a test involved. IF you have common sense, safety oriented and some working knowledge of electricity you should be able to pass with a short review of the testing pool.
You can search on QRZ.COM for Technician testing information and study books.
Most testing sites are at the local Fire Department, VFW and other locations.
Not that I condone the use of the Chinese Ham radios; the Baofeng UV-5R can transmit on the ham radio UHF/VHF, FRS and GMRS.
I guess that's a benefit of the GMRS license and somewhat justifies the cost, it's good for the entire family.
