I was always told, never use 4x4 to get into trouble, only to get out of trouble
Not saying I listened, it's just what I was told

I can't say I've ever heard that before... I've heard not to engage your lockers until you need them... But one of the nice things about the 2LO kit or a gear drive twin stick (triple stick in my case) you can run 2LO instead of 4LO until you need it...

1984 Grand Wagoneer — EV Conversion (2023): Dark blue with faux woodgrain, roof removed for a tan fabric top over custom roll bars, mounted on a custom steel tube chassis. Propulsion comes from Cascadia iDM integrated drive modules tied to an 80-kWh battery, managed by AEM control/BMS and Rinehart inverters with a 10-kW charger. Power reaches all four corners via custom CV axles and skid-plate protection.

Underneath: Chevy Colorado ZR2 independent suspension & brakes, Fox coilovers (about 10" travel), and 17" steel wheels with baby-moon caps on BFGoodrich Trail-Terrain tires. Inside: four bucket seats plus inward-facing benches in tan leather, Pioneer touchscreen, button panel, locking console, wood-rim wheel, and a digital AEM display. Only ~10 hours since the build—wild, clever, and clean.
