The decline of restaurants and eating out

When I worked in the deli sometimes people would order some for a specific weight. You guessed how much to fry, put what they asked for in a bag, and could eat the rest. Honestly not bad.

You're missing out

My mom loved them, got friends that love them.

I may try them sometime.

Hog jowl is the rich, fatty cheek of a pig, often cured and smoked like bacon but with a higher meat-to-fat ratio, used in Southern cooking to flavor greens and beans (especially for New Year's good luck) or fried as a breakfast meat, with Italian cured jowl called guanciale used in dishes like Carbonara. It's known for its deep flavor, tender texture when cooked right, and versatility in seasoning or as a main component, providing a salty, savory depth to many dishes.

Tried it once. Never again.

In all fairness It has been ages since I have had a positive experience at Micky D's. What is up with the floors feeling like they cleaned them with the fryer oil??

Now I must confess, I will eat and Mickey D's as a last resort, as a teen living in Florida it was the place, mainly because it was the only place.

Even back then the floors were either greasy feeling or sticky like glue.

It's been more positive since the app came out. You order and pay without talking to anyone. Grab your food in the drive thru and go. I have one across the street from my office so it's my go to if I want a fast food lunch. It used to be a free big mac every week if the Vikings had two sacks so that helped, now they require you to spend $2 to get the big mac.

Having young kids it's also quick and easy.

My issue is cleanliness. I still like ordering from the counter, or one of the kiosks. however, every time I go there, the bins are overflowing, the bathrooms are nasty and the workers all have their headphones in. I don't think it used to be like that.

They aren't all run by shit heads but many are.

I haven't eaten fast food much since I retired in 2021. When I did, I would say the employees were often clueless, but the place was clean,

News flash: Many - maybe even most - restaurants have completely yukky floors. Between my own experiences dancing in many restaurants over the years, plus dressing room scuttlebutt with my dance sisters; greasy black foot bottoms are the norm, not the exception. The kitchens are worse, and we won't even talk about the bathrooms - less grease perhaps... :poop:

One of my interminable stories: One of the local teachers was putting together a small show at a non-restaurant venue. She wanted to give the restaurant dancing experience to those who had yet to experience it, so was setting up tables for the audience, etc. So I told her to A) lock the door to one of the two restrooms,, B) in the other one, clog the toilet, turn off the hot water, crank the cold water angle stop down to where there's only a tiny trickle of water, dump water on the floor with a few sopping paper towels, then designate that the dressing room. That would approximate that authentic restaurant experience, albeit still a lot cleaner!

I thought the whole idea with "the app" was to avoid the drive thru line altogether. Instead, everybody has to now deal with the "using the mobile app today?" question - what are those dedicated app users parking spaces for? If one has to go through the drive-thu anyway, what's the point of the thing? Yet another annoyance brought to us by the worldwide pointless catering to the smartphone - as always, its at the expense of everyone else because its ALL about the PHOOOOOONNE!
