The decline of restaurants and eating out

Nothing like grinding a good mixture of beef for my burgers, last was brisket, chuck, sirloin and ribeye.
Also ground pork butt for ground pork, sweet Italian sausage and chorizo. No local places for me to buy fresh processed animals but aT least I can get into restaurant depot and get good quality meat that has yet to be frozen.

Can you go there if you're not a restaurant

We can buy from the packing plant in my in-laws town. They let employees buy and my in-laws know several there.

Aged beef back straps cut into 1-2 inch steaks.

They process Kosher beef there. So several Rabbis are in town and they ship unfrozen beef to NYC daily.

My parents raise cattle. I can cut up a chicken in my sleep. We butchered 200 chickens a year for 3 or 4 families, a cow, and a hog when I was a kid.

My mom had a huge garden and our basement had room of shelves packed with jars and a freezer of garden vegetables and meat.

Not open to general public, but if you have a business (any kind) with a EIN# you are in. I am in a totally unrelated field ie the printing/promotional item field, they don't care. If you have friend with a business get them to go in and get a few cards. They don't use pictures and will give additional cards on the fly, no cost to belong......just be prepared to buy in quantity for meat.

Family night last evening for a birthday celebration and chose a great Sushi restaurant.

There was a time when sushi places offered freshly washed and warmed soft cloth towels pre-meal. I always looked forward to this. Now it's a tiny, cold, individually wrapped, disposable wet-wipe.

Mildly infuriating.

That is all. Carry on.

My wife and I just got back from the restaurant across the street from our hotel. The meal for both of us was 1,1xx pounds Egyptian - about $22. It was fit for a king, and we were treated like friggin' royalty - they even had an attendant in the men's room who would pump the soap for you when you washed your hands and handed you paper towels to dry them.

On a slightly different subject; I would be the VERY last to advocate for it in any form whatsoever, but nonetheless there are "certain aspects" of Sharia law that would of benefit to us in the US - they sure don't put up with bullshit here.

Are you going to upload trip pics for us once you get back to your computer and can connect your camera for sharing?

Problem is, I don't have any pictures other than the one that I've already uploaded. I'm only now getting over King Tut's Revenge. We're moving to Aswan tomorrow, and I've missed EVERYTHING here in Cairo. Thank Goddess the pyramids are "right there" so I could at least see them and part of the sphinx. Need to remember to get a picture from the upstairs restaurant tomorrow AM.

I did manage to buy an overpriced couchant Anubis, one of about 3 items I want to buy here.

Thanx - but so far it has done little but suck. Missed the pyramids and sphinx, missed a special "Zar" performance that I really wanted to see as the troupe I'm in did one last October. Zar isn't done on stage very often. Then missed the Reda troupe's performance - they're basically the national dance ensemble for Egypt. I'll start a separate thread if I ever actually get any pix to post in it...

Hopefully you guys still enjoy the experience .
