What other projects are you working on?

Tell me where I can get gas for $2.28.

I was wrong , you can get regular unleaded in Colorado for $ 1.94 a gallon . I buy E free gas for $ 2.58. Cat piss gas is cheaper than I thought.

fwiw I think Kerosene is a bit more, but I didn't read the full context of the convo to know if that's what we are talking about.

Kerosene is a lot more expensive , like $ 12.00 a gallon is a deal ! The convo was about kerosene powered devises and the cost. Thanks man .

Sams club price is cheating 😉

Idk if a new pipeline got built and lowered the transport cost or what, but gas (85) in CO has been consistently 25-50 cents higher than the 87 in OK for my entire life until this year, when it's suddenly comparable if not a little less. Our Sam's club is at 1.979; most stations in the area are about 2.019-2.099.

The non-cheating best station here is probably $2.25+ or so, but I rack up Kroger/King Soopers points for the premium demanding vehicle (most fills are $1.00 off) and use Sam's when I can for the Jeep and my beater. It helps that Sam's is like 3 minutes away.

I'm just giving you a hard time. I was up there over Thanksgiving and saw several places along the front range where gas was about equal to what it is here, which is historically among the lowest in the country. Monument and north COS are always lower than the surrounding areas, and I've noticed the same with a particular Murphy station on 66 north of Longmont and 34 between Greeley and i25.

Only two data points though, so I haven't figured out whether your gas got cheaper or ours got more expensive, relative to the national average.

Hey @Cheesy
When I was flying I had a torpedo heater at the hanger. Fueled it with JetA fuel.
We have a couple of smaller airports here with self serve fuel. I still go and get 100LL avgas occasionally. (it NEVER goes bad)

But does MPG suffer?

No. Octane rating is solely to resist pre-ignition, has no impact on the fuels energy content.

I usually get better mpg with 85, but not because of the fuel, it's because if I'm using 85 I'm at ~5000 feet or higher and the air density reduces the aero drag.

I've always found that to be negligible and that I get better MPGs at lower elevations. There's a noticeable improvement in engine performance with more oxygen that offsets any aerodynamic benefits.

On our most recent road trip the range went from ~360 miles to ~440+ as we got closer to sea level for the same vehicle.

Do you think some of the improvement is just from not going up and down hills like you do out here?
