Brandon's Arles Blue TJ

Well I hope you get your parts soon so you can get to building your Jeep.... I'm hoping I'll be able to come over and wheel a couple of times in Jan or Feb before I head East.

I shouldn't have anything that will put my down for any extended period. Besides measuring for shocks and waiting on those. And of course depending on what issues I run into with the tummy tuck skid.

I threw an offer at a guy on some wheels this morning and haven't heard back yet. If he bites I'm going to have to delay half doors, but these wheels would be a much better addition. Not what I was planning on but we'll see. Not sure how high I'm willing to go on them.

Well, it was unexpected, but it looks like I'm getting new wheels (and tires), so no half doors for now. Maybe at some point next year. Just waiting to confirm a pick up time with the seller. Didn't want to spend this much, but I think I can make some money back on my current wheels with the new (used) tires, or if the new tires are good enough I may just stick with them. Maybe try to wheel with them first to see if I like them.

Well DAMN.... Need pictures... I'm guessing these must be some rims you really wanted?

Yep! It was a second deer special permit, so it was for a doe. Got a decent doe yesterday and came home. Just finishing up cutting and wrapping everything minus what I need to grind and I'm going to make some jerky.

Man I miss deer hunting. In TX I hunted annually on my own property. I had an awesome setup right out my back door. Also did an annual big hunt in South TX where I rarely came home without meat. I planned to hunt up here but my job swamped me and then I took two more jobs and one of them had me reaching Spring and Fall. There’s just no way to get out. Good news is one of my sons just finished his hunting course. Said it was so boring and stuff we all know. I really miss making sausage and jerky and eating the tenderloin and backstraps. Congrats to you though! Full freezers!

I grew up hunting whitetail in Virginia, so it's a lot different in Washington. I didn't hunt the whole time I was in the Army and just got back into it when I started this job. My wife didn't grow up on game meat like I did, but thankfully she loves it and we just incorporate it into our normal diet.

On another note, Wednesday at noon I pick up the new wheels and tires. The tires are a little more worn than I would want to keep and run, so I'll swap my tires onto the new wheels in a couple weeks and then sell the old wheels and the tires coming with the wheels.

You are making changes faster than I can blink. Beadlocks. Dang!

My tummy tuck skid is being delivered today. It's kind of a long story on how this all got decided to happen at once, but I'm not sad about it. The beadlocks were an unexpected opportunity. I pitched it to my wife and tried to talk the guy down, with what we settled on for price she said just do it. Then selling the other wheels and tires will offset the cost and make it a killer deal.

As you say in your profile, it just means you have a lot to do this Winter. I feel you bro! I have a lot to do too. I’m excited though. I just have to keep motivated. I think a TT is such a beneficial mod. Clearance! I’ve got my tires up for sale now after putting the 37’s on. They have 18-19/32’s, so they are practically brand new. Already sold the old wheels and recouped some! Now if I can just sell the tires!

Yea the "new" tires look to be about half tread, except the spare is new. I don't understand why you wouldn't do a 5 tire rotation when you have a full matching spare. So I'll get my current tires dismounted and swapped over. Then I'll wait to get the others mounted until I see if the tires or wheels sell separately. And if someone wanted them mounted I can get them mounted and balanced cheap.

Exactly. I always worked the spare in the rotation when I had one. I suppose your getting 5 beadlocks? I had mine dismounted about a month ago. Thought I'd have to get the 37's balanced after I mounted them on the beadlocks, but I drove it several times and no issues.

I had small vibrations with my 35" Toyo M/T's but none with either of my 38" TSL SX's or these new M/T Baja Pro XS tires.

Yes, matching set of 5. I'm hoping to get them mounted up while my wife is off on winter break. Then hopefully we can get out during that time for a trip to Tahuya. Maybe a new years trip. I'll probably drive them a bit to see how they do. The tire shop is close though so it's easy to run it into town and get them balanced. I have to work Wednesday after I get back from picking them up. I'll get them bolted onto the Jeep as is Thursday and get some pictures up.

Make sure you ask your tire shop as far as working on/balancing beadlocks. Some places won't mount tires while others won't even just balance beadlocks. So it's always good to ask a head of time.

I'm going to mount them myself, but I'll double check just to be sure.

Edit: that was easy, they're good with it. It's a Les Schwab but they've always been good. He said as long as they hold air and fit on the machine (35s do) then they'll do whatever I've got.

You're lucky.... Neither of my two local Schwabs will touch beadlocks. Even if I have them mounted they still won't balance them. The other tire shop in tow said bring the Jeep by and they'd see if one of my tire would fit on their machine. But like I said so far I don't have vibrations so I haven't taken it in yet.
