Using PCM to control aftermarket electric radiator fan?

sure - this is my first time doing tuning that doesn't involve a screwdriver. i thought manual was one of the few things you couldn't do to these tunes.

and I agree. autos better on paper but I will keep my 5-spd.

any chance you could re-upload this one as an HPT? been playing with it today and my computer doesn't like trying to convert TXT to HPT

For the next person that decides its a bright idea to pin your PCM, firstly - don't. Secondly, if you are just adding a pin (like for the PWM signal) you can absolutely get away with popping off just the backer plate, and blocker plate - sliding the blocker plate back and drilling out your pin, pushing over the blue tab and sliding the new pin into the connector, all without opening pandoras box.

but when you do get in hip deep, heres how to get yourself back out:

I used strands from a piece of 8ga wire to align the pins with the top shell (blue locking tab held captive in the connector) after 3-4 hours of cussing this was the only scheme that let me align the black backer with the grey connector and assemble the entire monstrosity.

Then its just a matter of pulling out the alignment wires and your off to the races:

Great job ! I knew this was a real fix when I saw the photos and read 3-4 hours of cussing . Thanks !

I was looking for the "manual transmission" mod one from post #141. I think I found the correct switches for it in my '01 TJ program. just waiting on an email back from HPT so I can register this device.

Gotcha. I'll get on it shortly, especially after seeing the pain you went through with the re-pin! I think I posted a warning about doing that very same thing for the very same reason, but your solution was ingenuous!

Okay, so like I said, the pinning part is pretty easy. If you pull off the PCM connector and look at the sides of it, there is a little light blue tab visible through holes on either side of the connector. It locks the pins in place. Simply slide it a little to unlock the pins and push yours through the backside then lock it back in. Do NOT disassemble the entire connector. It is EXTREMELY challenging to get all the pins lined back up to put it back together and it's entirely unnecessary. Ask me how I know 😩
See :D

I remember the first time I took one apart... The shop that had done my V-8 swap had F'd up part of the wiring and I had to go in & fix stuff.

First round of testing was pretty un-eventful. i tried a few different software combination and wasn't able to get the fan to spin. I opted to order a Handheld Oscilloscope definitely not a high quality product, but should be enough to see if theres. square wave there at all.
