One of my most memorable sayings I’ve heard from a coworker is from an accountant/payroll clerk we had that was dealing with one of our locations that had a history of being particularly dense…. She said on the phone to that manager: “Don’t make me fly down there on my broom and shove it up your ass!” Props to her for self awareness, but also for being as blunt as we all wish we could be. Sadly, for the reasons the rest of us “wish” we could say things like that, she suffered the consequences of actually doing that and is no longer employed with that company.

Well enjoy the new Buell. I have my old manuals if they might help. Should fit into a medium flat rate box. Let me double check but I'm fairly sure I still have them.

If you still have them I’d definitely take you up on that! Thanks! I watched a few videos on the fuel pump replacement as well as the guy I ordered the pump rebuild kit from sent me a bunch of tips so I think I can manage that, but if there are other issues the manual would be great. Thanks for the offer and checking for them!

Yep got them. For a 2009 version. Official manuals....I spare no expense for my bikes.

They made a few updates throughout the years but yes most of should still apply. My Ligtining was a 05 but I am pretty sure I don't have those manuals anymore. There used to be some good Buell forums but most have died after they stopped making the Harley sponsored Buell.
If I can help any along the way I'll be glad to where I can.

BTW is it a 9R or 12R?

It’s a 9R. I found the buellxb.com forum and it’s still pretty active and seems to have a few expert members/wizards one of who builds the fuel pump kit that I ordered, so some resources still look readily available. Definitely a lot of passion around the brand/bikes which is good.

Thanks so much for the help, Rick. I’m sure we’ll meet one day soon at a TJFest. I’m really trying to make it to Sandhallow but May is a tough month for me so not sure I’ll make it. I have a 13 year old in a blended family and he leaves to go to his mom’s for the summer Memorial Day weekend so it’s tough to either a. pull him out of school during the end of the school year for a week and bring him with, or b. leave him behind and go for a week and then say goodbye to him for 2 months soon after I get back. And then there’s the whole stepmom/stepson fued to balance into that if I leave him behind so, yeah……. Lol.

Sounds like my Mom. She took shit from no one.
My FIL was a former DI and retired from the army after 21 years as a First Sergeant. My Mom went after him for some insult he flung at her. While getting his ass reamed by Mom, he told my Dad to 'control his woman'. My Dad said something like, 'Oh you poor stupid son of a bitch' as Mom went full nutso on him. My MIL took me aside later and told me that watching his ass get torn to shreds was one of the best things she ever saw.

The 9's are more a wheelie monster than the 12's ....
 
Just a little history of the Buell. 2003 was the first year of the new bikes so there were some updates over the years after that. I can't fully remember everything that was updated. I can tell you that these bikes are great road bikes and handle great. My abilities were never a match for the bike that much I can tell you. Once you get it running go through it from top to bottom and make sure everything is working like it should. Watch how much you grab that front brake too as it will stop the bike on a dime.

This 575-mile route thoroughly explores the Cascade Mountains beginning in Stevenson, WA and making it to the Canadian border at Night Hawk. Views of the massive volcanic mountains from the dense forest in the southern part of the route are stunning and the open arid pine forests of the central part of the route showcase the diversity of Washington. The route just seems to get better each day as you head north and into the high-mountain areas beyond Lake Chelan.

It takes most people about 5-6 days to complete the route and there are some easy alternate sections to get around difficult stretches. There are many great camp spots along the way for those looking to rough it. The route also works well for those looking to stay in hotels or to do a little of both.

Best time of year: June through September is the best window for the Washington route. Snow in the mountain passes can block riders from completing the route early and late in the season.
