For all of us with two wheels also

Indian Motorcycle Company sold to Carolwood LP

This is a developing story, but in a shocking mid-day announcement, Polaris has announced it intends to not only spin off its Indian Motorcycle business into its own separate company, but that it then intends to sell the legacy American motorcycle brand to Carolwood LP, a private equity group, who has put former Vance & Hines CEO Mike Kennedy, who also worked for Harley-Davidson for two decades, in charge of the company.

Finally making room for the 2nd bike today…

In the continuing story of my CX500 that a buddy dropped. I scored the remains of a same but different GL500 parts bike today. I just wanted the engine for the shifty bits and the later version stator. I may get stupid and swap the swing arm. There was a very large tote included full of extra goodies; carbs, gauges, calipers, handlebar controls, a radiator, and what not. I figured for a hundred bucks, I couldn't go wrong.

Sounds like a tweaker starter kit…

The only thing I found disconcerting was the engine turning something like 5K at 60 MPH.

And the redline is like 9000 r.p.m. Not really an issue , besides , why would you buy a 6 speed manual TJU that that allows the engine spin at a higher r.p.m. in 6th than the earlier 5 spds. in 5th ? :p

It was something to get used to. It doesn't look like it but it's a very short stroke engine, something like 50mm x 50mm, hence the high rpm. Where this engine runs at 55 mph, the boxer on the Ural would be puking its guts out through the oil pan.

Just picked this up for free. Friend’s neighbor had it and he parked it about 5 years ago and wanted give it to someone to get running again. Ran when he parked it, so hopefully not too intensive. Fuel pump is definitely toast so have a new one of those on the way, but compression, spark and everything else is checking out. Hopefully have it running next week!

I’m pretty excited. I have a buddy that has a Lightning that he turned into a drag bike so I’ve never ridden one of these in pure form.

They are AWESOME bikes IMO. I've had a Firebolt and a Lightining and honestly would take the Lightining over the Firebolt. And the 9R is better than the 12R as far as reving better and being more flickable..

Firebolt is faster, but a Nimbus 2000 handles better. ;)

Not sure where you got that info from. As I recall (granted might be incorrect) they were both rated as the same top ends since both were built on the same platform. The only difference were the plastic on them.

Firebolt was rated for 150 MPH, Nimbus 2000 apparently was around 100, and the Nimbus 2001 was approx. 120. And built by completely different artisans. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::LOL::D:whistle::devilish:
